What Comes After the Witching Hour?

Published Hunyo 3, 2017 by jptan2012

Most of you would be familiar with the term Witching Hour or Witching Hours, which is said to be between 12 MN and 3AM. It is said waking up during these hours with no apparent reason may signify and evil entity lurking somewhere near you. But today, allow me to share with you about what happens after the witching hour. To discuss this, I need to discuss about the Traditional Chinese Medicine, a practice that still works on the principle of Feng Shui.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM, the best time to go to bed is around 9PM. But if you have trouble sleeping at this time it is said that you could be undergoing some kind of stress and that you are not handling it well.

If you’re the type of person who wakes up between 11pm and 1am, it could mean that you are undergoing some kind of emotional problems.

If you’re the type of person who wakes up between 1am and 3am, it could mean that you have some built – up of so much anger that you are unable to deal with.

What is amazing is if you usually wake up after the witching hours, which is from 12mn to 3am. Because waking up between 3am and 5am, even for TCM and Feng Shui means that a higher being might be actually trying to send a message. Waling up at this time means you might be undergoing some change in your life and higher beings are trying to guide you or direct you. If this happens, I suggest you meditate or chant – a – mantra. The mantra of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Kuan Yin, might be a good mantra to chant.

However, let me caution you a little bit. By waking up at these hours, it usually means the kind of wake up that you are suddenly so awake and wonders what woke you up.

Precautions to Take During the Hungry Ghost Month

Published Hulyo 20, 2012 by jptan2012

There are some things that you should never do or you should totally avoid doing during the Hungry Ghost Month, and these are the things that I would like to share now.

First, DON’T EVER OPEN A NEW BUSINESS! Doing this will definitely make the business success hard to achieve, if this is impossible to avoid, you should consult a Taoist and/or Feng Shui expert to get an auspicious date and time and so that they can assist you in doing some protection rituals that you’d need.

DON’T MAKE ANY MAJOR DECISION, SIGN A CONTRACT, START A BIG PROJECT during the Hungry Ghost Month. Again doing so will make everything problematic and you’ll risk not finishing the project or get into a legal problem.

Taoist priests and Buddhist monks says that ghosts in general like to ‘walk’ in dark corners and near the walls. Taking this into consideration you should NEVER WALK IN THE DARK, SPECIALLY IF IT’S NEAR A WALL. Doing so may have you encountering hungry ghosts that may inflict harm on you. Always remember that it is better to be in well-lit places and crowded places.

DON’T EVER MESS WITH THE HUNGRY GHOST OFFERINGS! I’ve discussed about the different rituals, which involves some offerings for the hungry ghosts. One should never play with these foods or offerings. Doing so might make the hungry ghost think that you are challenging or competing with them and they might attack you and cause some harm. Children should always be reminded of this rule.

DON’T GO SWIMMING! As mentioned in an earlier post about the EFFECTS OF THE DREADED HUNGRY GHOST MONTH, accidents increases during the hungry ghost month. It is said that bodies of water are an easier gateway for the hungry ghosts because in Taoism and Buddhism bodies represent the crossing over the spirit, and because of this hungry ghosts will usually look for bodies of water to help them cross over. A swimming pool is considered as a body of water. I personally have a cousin who died of drowning during a Hungry Ghost Month, and one of the most celebrated drowning cases in Cebu happened in a 2 feet deep pool during a Hungry Ghost Month.

DON’T GO HOME LATER THAT 10PM. ‘Witching Hour’ in Feng Shui and Taoism really happens when completing a 12 animal sign cycle. This happens between 10PM and 11:15PM. So it is extremely advisable for you to go home before 10PM. Generally speaking you should be home before dark, but if this is unavoidable do your best to be home before 10PM.

AVOID LONG ROAD TRIPS OR TRAVELING BY PLANE OR SHIP/BOAT. It is said that one is more susceptible to the effects of the Hungry Ghost the farther they are from their home, which has imbued your energy and thus has created a protection chi. The farther you are from home the more susceptible you are and they usually hit you at a time where there is an increase risk like traveling long road trips, or by plane and ship.

AVOID GOING ABROAD AND STAYING IN HOTELS. Depending on the hotel, the room may be considered a Yin place if the hotel guests are not as frequent as it ought to be. It is very hard to gauge this unless you know somebody really well in the hotel who can tell you the info that you need. If a guest does not frequently habit the hotel room, it is considered as Yin place and you have to assume that it is a place where hungry ghost will stay during the Hungry Ghost Month. Staying in such a room will give you nightmares and bad luck. If this is unavoidable, it advisable that you bring or ask for rock salt and sea salt with you and scatter it in the room. Also, bring some natural quartz crystals or amethyst will help ensure that the room is infused with yang energy.
