How to Help A Dying Person From Moving On To a Better Next Life!

Today’s post has something to do with reincarnation. I decided to write about this because of a recent incident that I shall share with you in the next few days.

Anyway, all of us commute to work, school, meetings, malls, restaurant, etc. And we travel, some daily some not as often but all of us will be on the road at some point in our life.

When on the road, there are times that we will encounter an accident or see an accident. It’s degree of severity may vary but when we see a grave accident with people who are hurt and are about to die or has died, it will be very well for us to help them realized they’re dead so that they can easily enter samsara or move on to the next life again.

How do we do this?

For Buddhist who knows how to take refuge, mentally do it for the dying person or for the one who died. Take the refuge, and mentally say that the merit is given to those who are involved in the accident.

Chanting some mantras and imagining its energies becoming a purple ball of fire, then you mentally throwing to the dying or newly dead should help.

The mantras that you should recite are the following (please do this in the same order as it is written):

  1. OM AMI DEWA HRIH (7X)
  2. OM MUNI MUNI MAHA MUNI YE SOHA (7X)
  3. TADYATHA OM BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE MAHA BHEKNADZYE RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA (7X)
  4. OM MANI PADME HUM (3X)
  5. OM AH KSITIGARBHA THALENG HUM (3X)
  6. OM VAJRAPANI HUM (3X)
  7. TADYATHA OM GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SOHA (7X)

While chanting the mantras slowly imagine that the mantras are becoming a ball of purple fire or energy. After you’ve finished chanting imagine it being thrown to the dying person or to those who just died. This will help their consciousness recognized that they just died or are dying.

In Buddhism also chanting loudly the mantras of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will help the person attain a better next life.

If you have the Vajrapani Ruel(1) or Surangama Mantra Amulet(1), you can also put it on their chest or forehead, if the relatives or the authorities allowed you to do it, or at the very least pass it over them three times.

If you have the Vajrapani Ruel(2) and can’t remember all the mantras to chant, and does not feel comfortable approaching the dying person, hold it on your receiving hand (if you are right handed your receiving hand is your left hand and vice versa), and then chant OM VAJRAPANI HUM, while chanting imagine the energy coming from the Vajrapani Ruel(3) then slowly let it flow through your arms to your chest to move to your giving hand (which is your other hand) and then raise your giving hand, much like praying over somebody, then imagine the energy going to the dying person or newly dead one and let it’s energy clean it’s consciousness (or soul).

Wouldn’t it by doing this we are assuming that the person is dying (if not yet dead)? Yes it would, but the good thing doing this will cleanse its consciousness but it is also a healing act. They need the burst of energy and it might jolt them back to life.

I’m quite sure that a lot of you will be worried that by doing this the consciousness of the person might go after you, and you might attract the negative chi that cause the accident. By simply chanting the mantras, even if it is for them, you are already protecting yourself. And remember, there is no bad thing that will come out from a good thing.

Create Harmony and Remove All Suffering with THE HEART OF THE PRAJNA PARAMITA SUTRA

I’m quite excited with the new Feng Shui product released by Lillian Too through her World of Feng Shui store. I’m referring to the Heart Sutra Pillar. While I may not be quite sure why she recommended the Heart Sutra Pillar for the Five Yellow Star because it still lacks the symbol of the five element which is essential in fighting the 5 Yellow Star, I can still think of a number of reasons why this is really good news.

First, I believe this is the first time that somebody has made the Heart Sutra in that form. I’m referring to how she made it. While it is not real gold, the gold finished of the pillar will still add some yang energy to the already powerful The Heart of Prajna Paramita most commonly called Heart Sutra. Plus making it into a pillar makes it easier to display anywhere at home.

But what is THE HEART OF PRAJNA PARAMITA SUTRA?The Heart Of Prajna Paramita Sutra

To answer that allow me to explain a little what is a sutra. A sutra is a text in Buddhism or Hinduism that talks about a life of a Buddha or Bodhisattva or virtues or teachings of a Buddha, or most of the time both. Literally it means a thread that holds things together.

A sutra mostly refers to canonical Buddhist scriptures, which are oral teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha.

The Heart of the Prajna Paramita Sutra is just one of the Prajna Paramita sutras, and it is a highly revered sutra and quite unique because it is the only sutra that prominently features a Bodhisattva. Most sutras, if not all, are taken or taught in the perspective of Shakyamuni Buddha. Shakyamuni (also spelled as Sakyamuni) is the one teaching or giving the teaching in the sutra. However, in The Heart of Prajna Paramita Sutra it features Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, which is also more popularly known as Kuan Yin. The sutra was written in Kuan Yin’s perspective and it’s Kuan Yin vision that is talked about in this particular sutra.

The Heart of Prajna Paramita Sutra or Heart Sutra is also the shortest sutra in the world. But, it is one of the most complete sutra in such a way that it has summarized the heart of all the Buddhist teachings, thus it is called The Heart of the Prajna Paramita Sutra.

Wearing or displaying any sutras has the power to bless and protect the wearer or the surroundings where the sutra is displayed. But different sutras might slightly give off a different special blessing. For example, The Medicine Buddha sutra will give off a blessing of health, protection, and wealth.

Displaying or wearing The Heart of the Prajna Paramita Sutra will bless the wearer or the place with harmony, peace, protection, and wealth. It will also help the person coming across it attained a deeper knowledge of the Buddhist teachings, or help pave the way for the person to be ready for Buddhist scriptures. More than that as the promise of The Heart Sutra, it can also remove all suffering!

Displaying The Heart of Prajna Paramita Sutra is definitely a powerful tool to access its blessings. Personally though I prefer wearing it because by having it around or on your body all the time means you are constantly blessed with harmony, peace, and protection from all negative chi, and constant access to wealth luck. In fact, one of my favorite pendants is a gold Kuan Yin pendant with the sutra scripted at the back of the pendant. Chinese believes in the power of gold, and if a holy image or scripture is put in gold, this makes the effect even more powerful.

It will also be extremely beneficial if one can recite the sutra. Before reciting the sutra first ask the guidance and blessing of Shakyamuni Buddha by saying: NAMO FUNDAMENTAL TEACHER SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA (3X).

 

THE HEART OF PRAJNA PARAMITA SUTRA

Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara,

While deeply immersed in prajna paramita,

Clearly perceived the empty nature of the five skandhas,

And transcended all suffering.

Sariputra! Form is not different from emptiness,

Emptiness is not different from form.

Form is emptiness, emptiness if form.

So it is with feeling, conception, volition, and consciousness.

Sariputra! All dharma are empty in character;

Neither arising nor ceasing,

Neither impure nor pure,

Neither increasing nor decreasing.

Therefore, in emptiness, there is no form;

There is no feeling, conception, volition, or consciousness;

No eye, ear, nose, tongue, body or mind;

No form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharmas;

No realm of vision, and so forth,

Up to no realm of mind – consciousness;

No ignorance or ending of ignorance, and so forth,

Up to no aging and death or ending of aging and death.

There is no suffering, no cause, no extinction, no path.

There is no wisdom and no attainment.

There is nothing to be attained.

By way prajna paramita,

The bodhisattva’s mind is free from hindrances.

With no hindrances, there is no fear;

Freed from all distortion and delusion,

Ultimate nirvana is reached.

By way of prajna paramita,

Buddhas of the past, present, and future

Attain anuttara – samyak – sambodhi.

Therefore, prajna paramita

Is the great powerful mantra,

The great enlightening mantra,

The supreme and peerless mantra.

It can remove all suffering.

This is the truth beyond all doubt.

And the prajna paramita mantra is spoken thus:

Tadyatha, Om Gate Gate Paragate Parasamagate Bodhi Soha

 

The last line can be repeated 108 times.

A Hermit and A Monk: A Lesson on Reciting Your Mantra

Since I started writing about Mantras, I’ve received countless emails and sometimes phone calls asking me about the right intonation of a mantra. I know for people who have just been recently introduced to the power of Mantras, it may be a little daunting because some of the Mantras can be mouthful like the Medicine Buddha Mantra – TADYATHA OM BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE MAHA BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA – or the Prajnaparamita Mantra – TADYATHA OM GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SOHA. The truth there are other mantras, such as the Cundi Avalokitesvara Mantra – NAMO SAKTANAM SAMYAKSAM BUDDHA KOTINAM TADYATHA OM CALE CULE CUNDI SOHA (I’ll write about Cundi Avalokitesvara soon), that are way longer than the mantras that I’ve talked about on this blog.

I realize that this might be causing a little worry to some of you thinking that your wish might not happen because you are not pronouncing it properly. Also, because you might be agonizing too much on the proper pronunciation that you tend to forget to concentrate on the intent why you’re saying the mantra.

‘A Hermit and A Monk’ is a story that was shared by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, one of the most revered monks of high status.

Lama Zopa Rincpoche is considered as the one strongly propagates Buddhism to people who otherwise wouldn’t have heard of Buddhism. His work with Lillian Too also helped bridge the gap between Buddhism and Feng Shui, which was largely considered to be a Taoist practice. He is also task by the Dalai Lama to lead the Maitreya Project. A very ambitious project that hopes to build the largest Maitreya Buddha – the Future Buddha, in the world.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche first shared this story with the members of the ‘Foundation for the Preservation of Mahayana Tradition’, it was since then shared with other groups like the Amitabha Buddhist Center (a sub-center of FPMT), and he also shared this with Lillian Too.

A HERMIT AND A MONK…

A monk visited a hermit, who lived alone on an island doing retreat. The hermit had given himself three years to complete chanting ten million of the powerful six-syllable mantra of the Compassionate Buddha. The hermit had been told that attaining this level of practice would awaken his yogic powers. The mantra was “OM MANI PADME HUM”.

The monk listened as the hermit did his mantra and, with the best intention in the world, leaned over to him and whispered:

“I think you have got the pronunciation wrong. This mantra should be chanted this way…” and he proceeded to demonstrate. The hermit listened attentively and then watched as the monk walked back to his boat to leave the island.

Ten minutes later when the boat was halfway across the river the monk heard his name being called, and looking around, he spied the hermit and heard him call:

“Listen to this, have I got it right now?” and the hermit proceeded to chant the same mantra but with the monk’s intonation. Astounded, the monk turned around and saw the hermit walking on the water next to his boat. In that instant he realized that the hermit’s faith and sincerity had given his mantra recitation far more power than he had realized.

As you will see, the story state that what counts more is the faith and sincerity in reciting the mantra. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t strive hard to do our best to recite them properly, but let’s not agonize about it. If you have faith and sincerity then it’s simply impossible for it not to work!

Tips to Cure Bad Chi that Affects Family Relationship

I decided to write this post because of a reader who recently consulted me about her relationship with her mom. They know they love each other but they also fight a lot. K, the reader, was one of the first readers of this blog who contacted me through email requesting that her BAZI be read. It took me a few weeks before I was able to deliver her BAZI analysis. One of her primary reason of wanting her chart to be read is because she just recently went through a major change in her life and also she became a little worried because she read that this might be a bad year for people born under the sign of the Dragon. K is a Dragon.

K’s BAZI chart showed that she might have some relationship problems with her mom. It’s nothing that both of them want or seek, but it’s simply because it was destined to be that way, to further aggravate this her mom was born under the year of the Dog, which totally contradicts the Dragon.

K confirmed the BAZI analysis as shown on her BAZI chart. If we’ve seen K’s BAZI when she was younger, the remedy could have been asking her mom to let K call her another term for mother, other than what she’s usually addressed by the other children. For example, if her children call the mom Mama, K could just call her mommy or mom.  If she’s called Mommy, K can just call her mom, mama, or even Inay. That’s one of the simplest cure for relationship problem that has something to with the BAZI or fate.

Also knowing about this earlier in their life could have prepared the mom to work harder with their relationship. This is one problem that really has to be addressed on as early as possible, it’s harder to ‘heal’ the wounds that has been repeatedly wounded several times through the years. However, it’s useless ‘crying over spilled milk’, Feng Shui is useless unless one is able to solve a ‘problem’.

Nevertheless, I have to admit that relationship problems specially one that is deeply rooted in the BAZI, which is destined as dictated by one’s birth date, is the ‘hardest’ to work on. But knowing that these arguments are caused by other than one’s personality is a first step in trying to tone down the bad chi brought about by fate. Secondly, one really has to be more patient with each other.

If you’re experiencing relationship problems with any of members of your family, regardless of whether it’s karmic or not, do the first two steps I just mentioned. Then, you can also do the following Feng Shui tips and/or Taoist and Buddhist rituals to help address the bad chi or energy that’s causing the disharmony.

SIX CRYSTAL BALLS IN THE LIVING ROOM. Placing six smooth crystal balls in the living room will help create harmony within the family. If possible, get a crystal ball that has some symbolic script on them, because this helps enhance the ‘power’ created by the good Feng Shui created by putting the crystal balls. If possible, use real crystal balls, but because this can get quite expensive, you can get two natural crystal balls and the rest can be made of glass. However, never ever get anything that’s made of plastic. Any color will do and they don’t have to be of the same size and color.

RECITE THE PRAJNAPARAMITA MANTRA. I’ll discuss more about the Prajnaparamita Mantra and its Sutra in one of my future posts but right now what’s important is to understand that this mantra is a powerful mantra that helps actualize harmony within the home or anywhere where this mantra is recited. If possible, recite this mantra in the living room or in the center of the house. If the affected parties are staying in the same bedroom, then reciting this in the bedroom is also good. For utmost effectiveness, recite one full mala (one full mala is 108 times) five times a day. You can recite all the five full mala at one time, but it’s best if it’s spread throughout the day. The PRAJNAPARAMITA MANTRA is – TADYATHA OM GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SOHA. (Note on Pronunciation: GATE is pronounced as GA – short A and TE as Tay – sounds like long A or the English word TAIL without the L).

Symbolic Script of the Prajnaparamita Mantra. The actual script reads GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SOHA. However, when reciting the mantra one needs to add TADYATHA OM, making the full mantra TADYATHA OM GATE GATE PARAGATE PARASAMGATE BODHI SOHA. One can also print several copies of the symbolic script of the Prajnaparamita Mantra and fold it and put in inside a red cloth. Then give one each to all affected members of the family.

SUN POWER TO CLEANSE NEGATIVE ENERGIES. Regularly cleanse your mattress, pillows, and blankets from negative energies. These are the things that we use in the evening, and we leave an energy imprint on them, they are also seldom exposed to direct natural Yang energy, thus it becomes Yin energy, this in turn may contribute to the negative energy that creates disharmony. Cleaning them with Sun Power is an effective way of infusing some Yang energy on them. You can do this every 2 weeks, bring out the mattress, clean blankets and pillows and expose them to direct sunlight. Preferably between 7 and 9 in the morning.

CLEAR CLUTTER. Clear all the clutter in the house. Clutters tend to create energy blockage, which in turn may also create disharmony among others.

MOON AND PERFUMED WATER RITUAL. (1.) On an evening with a full moon, place a big bowl of water, make sure you use white colored bowl. While it should be full, make sure that it doesn’t spill. (2.) Leave the bowl of water under the moon from 7PM to 6AM the following day. (3.) Place 5 different flowers that has five different colors that represents the five elements. Red, pink, orange, purple flower for the fire element; white flower for the metal element; blue flower for the water element; green flower for the wood element; yellow flower for the earth element. The flowers will be put in the Moon energized water at 6AM the following day. (4.) Bring the water inside the house and if possible put it on your altar then say the PRAJNAPARAMITA MANTRA 108 times. If you don’t have an altar just bring it in the living room or at the center of the house. (5.) After saying the full mala of PRAJNAPARAMITA MANTRA, blow on the water. (6.) Then put a pinch of salt and a pinch of saffron the water. In the absence of water one can also use any other ordinary scented oil. Almond or Vanilla are also very good. Florida Water may be use also. (7.) Sprinkle the water in the living room, and in the bedrooms of the affected members of the family. (8.) Leave some of the water to be mixed in the bath water of the affected members of the family. About one tablespoon per person will do.
