The worst Ebola epidemic ever in its history since it was first discovered in the 70s. It started last year but went out of control this past 2 months. Not only it is the worst Ebola epidemic ever but it is Ebola Zaire, which is also the strain that is hardest to manage and deadliest. On top of it, death toll increased from 30% – 40% to 60%.

Just today, United States, Philippines, Morocco, and Brazil announced their first Ebola case of death and diagnosis outside West Africa.

A nurse who is a reader informed that in their hospital deaths amongst patients has dramatically increased that the medical director had to call for a meeting to check whether they are doing anything wrong. Their record shows that death is higher between July and August of each year but it is so much higher this year.

Need I say more? These are just some of the obvious effects of the 2014 Hungry Ghost Month. To understand it further please do read my previous post entitled – WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE 2014 HUNGRY GHOST MONTH AND MERCURY RETROGRADE.

Yes these things happens also even if its not the Hungry Ghost Month, but what you should look at here is the intensity and frequency of these things.

To protect yourself please read my post – PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE ILL EFFECTS OF THE 2014 HUNGRY GHOST MONTH AND MERCURY RETROGRADE.

However, it’s very important that you don’t just protect yourself, we should do something for the world. We should be able to do something to help avert further tragedy.
I have been very busy the past few days and did some unavoidable traveling but I got a call from my Guru Lama who instructed me to write that several temples are offering the recitation of the mantra of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha and Medicine Buddha, each mantra will be recited 100,000 times a day! I know 2 temples that are doing the same thing here in the Philippines with several pujas and offerings being done to help counter the worldwide effect of one of the worst Hungry Ghost month ever.

You can ask your local temple, if not you can do it at home. For most people 100,000 chants of each of the Buddha and Bodhisattva mentioned can be overwhelming but according to my Guru Lama do 10,000 times for each and it will help a lot. If that is still a little too much for you just chant them as many as you can something and anything is better than nothing.

If possible, just before 6pm, get a handful of rock salt and just toss it outside of your house. Do this everyday until Sept. 5, 2014.

Please remember to specifically dedicate after saying mantras to the protection of the world from the hungry ghost month.

It is the hope of different monks that by doing this a lot of the ill effects will either be averted or tamed.

But reciting the said mantras will protect you as well.
Mantra of the Bodhisattva of Compassion: OM MANI PADME HUM
Mantra of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha: OM AH KSITIGARBHA THALENG HUM or OM PRA MANI DANI SOHA or NAMO KSITIGARBHA BODHISATTVA or NAMO DI ZHANG WANG PUSA
Mantra of Medicine Buddha: TADYATHA OM BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE MAHA BHEKANDZYE (BHEKANDZYE) RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA

How to Help the Victims of Typhoon Glenda?

Published Hulyo 17, 2014 by jptan2012

The Philippines is once against besieged by a strong typhoon.

Glenda is not as bad a Yolanda, but just the same, a lot of people were affected by the typhoon. After the typhoon, it is now time for us once again to lend a little help to the people who were greatly affected by Glenda. However, there’s no need for all of us to donate money, food, or clothes. If you don’t have an extra amount of money to spare, please remember that offering prayers will work as well.

For Buddhists, chant the mantra of Bodhisattva of Compassion, Kuan Yin – OM MANI PADME HUM with the mantra of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva – OM PRA MANI DANI SOHA or OM AH KSITIGARBHA THALENG HUM or NAMO KSITIGARBHA BODHISATTVA or NAMA TI TSANG WANG PUSA (NAMO DI ZHANG WANG PUSA), with the mantra of the Medicine Buddha – TADYATHA OM BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE MAHA BHEKANDZYE  (BHEKANDZYE) RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA. One mala (108x) each or as many as you can, then dedicate it to the victims of Typhoon Glenda with international name Rammasun.

Clarifications on the Post About the 2014 Hungry Ghost Month and Mercury Retrograde

Published Hunyo 20, 2014 by jptan2012

I know that the information shared on this blog the other day about the 2014 Hungry Ghost Month and Mercury Retrograde entitled – WHAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THE 2014 HUNGRY GHOST MONTH AND MERCURY RETROGRADE – & – PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE ILL EFFECTS OF THE 2014 HUNGRY GHOST MONTH AND MERCURY RETROGRADE – can be a little overwhelming for a lot of you. Almost immediately I was bombarded by literally hundreds of emails, which I really haven’t read. On top of that, there were also an overwhelming number of sms that was sent to me, not to mention several phone calls.

I thought it is only appropriate to clarify something for everybody’s better understanding of the topic.

First, Mercury Retrograde is as mentioned a Western Astrology concept, I’m not an expert and I don’t have mastery of the said topic, however, I know it to be true because:

  1. I know that Western Astrology to be true. Before I dwelt on Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology, Western Astrology was my first interest. My personal bias is that Chinese Astrology is more accurate but it doesn’t change the fact that Western Astrology has some basis.
  2. Mercury Retrograde is a concept that I have read before. In fact, several years back. There are also some famous people who have claimed that they experienced Mercury Retrograde and that it has affected their relationship and work. Some of these people are Ronald Reagan, Cameron Mackintosh, Shirley Maclaine, etc.
  3. The few times I got to meet some reputable Astrologer, this is something that we’ve discussed. And they are all in agreement that this is true.
  4. Particularly this year, when June set in a lot of people have been complaining to me about their relationship problems and communication problems, which prompted me to do more research about this topic.
  5. I believe that it is stronger this year because of several factors that may affect it to become stronger. This is just theory and I didn’t included in the first two article because it is quite difficult for me to substantiate this, but the stronger Hungry Ghost Month this year might be making Mercury Retrograde stronger also.

Second, the stronger Hungry Ghost Month phenomenon is not something new. Although rare it has been known to happen. And it is different from what happened last year, because last year we had a triple whammy, but this year it is simply stronger Hungry Ghost Month that we have to deal with it, and because it is stronger, it also extends itself. As mentioned, I’ve consulted other Feng Shui experts, particularly my teachers; most of them agree that this is indeed the case. However, I would like to clarify that there is one particular Feng Shui expert that said that they (group that she works with) are not sure whether this is an interpretation concern. Meaning, they saw it but they seem to think that this is still subject to further discussion. They are drawing their unclear stand from the ‘Double Negative Theory’; this theory states that in some aspects of Feng Shui a double negative may be a positive sign.

Third, regarding the cures for the 2014 Hungry Ghost Month and Mercury Retrograde, I would like to reiterate that something is still way better than nothing at all.prayer

Lastly, we should not under estimate the power of a prayer. In fact, if you look at the suggested cure, a lot of it is drawing power or protection from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and sutras (Buddhist holy texts that are considered prayer books) and mantras, which is a form of praying. On top of this, I personally believe is also going to create some form of protection. Do good deeds, help people, help people you know, but more than that help people that you don’t know. Do something that is beyond what is JUST COMFORTABLE. The positive energy created by a very good deed is a very powerful protection, and remember a good deed is not measure by how many people you help or by how much you spent. A good deed is measured by sincerity, the amount of compassion you have, and how much of you was shared.

Protect Yourself from the Ill Effects of the 2014 Hungry Ghost Month and Mercury Retrograde

Published Hunyo 18, 2014 by jptan2012

In my previous post – WHAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THE 2014 HUNGRY GHOST MONTH AND MERCURY RETROGRADE, I talked about how the combined effect of the annual and monthly flying stars and of the annual and monthly Bazi or Paht Chee are making this year’s Hungry Ghost Month so much stronger that its effects will be felt 15 days before the first day of the Hungry Ghost month which is on July 27, 2014 up to 15 days after its supposed last day which is August 24, 2014. This phenomenon is made worse with the last Mercury Retrograde periods of the year sandwiching this year’s Hungry Ghost month, leaving us with about 5 challenging months in succession.

At the start of the year, a lot of Feng Shui writers and consultants talked about how the first part of the year will show an abundance of luck for most people, and how towards the end of the year it will get depleted. This was obvious on the year’s Paht Chee chart; but nowhere was a definitive explanation of the cause discussed. It is actually only by accident that I came across a possible explanation. I believe the effects of both Mercury Retrograde and the particularly strong Hungry Ghost Month of the year occurring in succession explains why the energy of the year gets depleted towards the end of the year.

As mentioned in my previous blog post, as I wanted to validate my reading of the year’s annual and monthly flying stars and Paht Chee charts especially in relation to the year’s Hungry Ghost Month, I decided to call first my Feng Shui teacher in Hong Kong, and my Guru Lama in Singapore. Both of them confirmed the said phenomenon. After writing the previous blog post, and just before writing this one, I decided to call another Feng Shui teacher from Beijing, China, and he also confirmed the said phenomenon. Lastly, I was also able to discuss the matter with other Feng Shui consultants, who likewise acknowledged the phenomenon. Certain experts, however, are not sure whether they will be discussing it through any of their avenues because of two reasons: (1) they are not sure whether the effects are in fact going to be really bad (this goes into interpretations of the resulting calculations) and (2) if in fact the effects will be very bad, they are not sure whether remedies exist to successfully counter the effects.

In the course of writing this entry, I decided to call another Feng Shui teacher. This particular Feng Shui teacher practices Transcendental Feng Shui, which is also known as Spiritual or Third Dimension Feng Shui. Like the other Feng Shui experts that I consulted, he acknowledges the said phenomenon and like my Guru Lama he believes that we can do something about it.

Before I go into discussing how one can protect oneself from this phenomenon, let me explain that the recommendations below are an aggregation of the different recommendations that I gathered from my Guru Lama, Feng Shui teachers, and a few of my own recommendations based on my own experience. Also, it would be of course best if you follow all the recommendations; and, needless to state, following some is better than following none of them. I would also like to point out that it was a reader who since then has become a good friend, DU, who pointed out this direction of how to remedy this phenomenon.

Always have with you the following:

  1. Kuan Yin pendant, preferably with a sutra.
This is from my personal collection. The reason I love this pendants so much is because it has a inscription of the Heart Sutra at the back. I wear the smaller one everyday.

Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to look for this kind of Kuan Yin pendant.

  2. Chong Kwei (also spelled as Chung Kwei) or Mahakala (a wrathful image of Avalokitesvara or Kuan Yin) pendant. To be honest I’ve been looking for a Mahakala pendant and I’m unable to find one. For this year, according to my Guru Lama, Mahakala is preferred but no one can deny the efficacy of a Chong Kwei pendant during the Hungry Ghost month. Please take into consideration that he may be partial to Mahakala because he is a Buddhist Lama and Chong Kwei is of a Taoist lineage. Your Chong Kwei should be made of a black stone or gold.

This is a rare black jade pendant image of Chung Kwei. Was fortunate enough to find one in Beijing, China in a small shop. Remember in choosing a Chong Kwei or Chung Kwei or Zhung Kwei or Zhong Kwei, always get a something that's made of a black stone or gold. Otherwise, it might not be very effective.

  4. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva pendant.

From my personal collection. A rare Red Amber Ksitigarbha. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to get a Ksitigarbha pendant unless you're from Malaysia, Hong Kong, or Singapore.

  5. Wear or carry a Prayer Wheel and spin it as often as you can.
  6. Medicine Buddha pendant or simply carry a Medicine Buddha sutra.
  7. Always carry a Four Dharmakaya Relic Mantras or Lama Atisha Amulet with you at all times.

I decided to put THE FOUR DHARMAKAYA RELIC MANTRAS inside a test tube type glass holder that I bought in The Bead Shop, then I included the incense ash, Pink Himalayan Salt inside before sealing it. Thank you to DU, a reader and friend who took this photo.

At home and in the office you should have the following:

  1. Figurine of Kuan Yin.
  2. Figurine of Mahakala or Chong Kwei.

This is an image of a Mahakala, the wrathful form of Avalokitesvara or Kuan Yin. Wrathful form doesn't mean that they are really angry, it means that they are largely use for protection. This photo was uploaded from Google images.

  3. Figurine of Medicine Buddha or Kuan Kong. These two are optional.
  4. Figurine of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. It may be pretty difficult to get a figurine of Ksitgarbha Bodhisattva. What you can do instead is print his image, laminate it and put it on your altar. If you don’t have an altar, put them where the other images are.

In looking for an image of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva either as a pendant or a figurine for your home, you will come across with two versions, the one with the 'Amitabha' hat and the one where He is not wearing any hat and shows his bald head. I prefer the one with the hat, because the one where He is bald is usually associated with the spirits of the dead and connotes that he hasn't attain His Buddhahood.

  5. Put Four Dharmakaya Relic Mantras or Lama Atisha Amulet on all the doors and windows of your house that are facing the perimeter of your house (living quarters). If you find it difficult to find these, then the second best option would be to use Kalachakra stickers.
  6. Put a small bowl of rock salt in all the rooms of your house.
  7. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: FIX ALL THE FENG SHUI ERRORS OF YOUR HOUSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE THE YIN EFFECTS OF ALL THESE FENG SHUI ERRORS ARE MULTIPLIED.
  8. Play mantras in all the rooms if possible.

Do the following ‘rituals’:

  1. From July 12, 2014 to Sept. 8, 2014, chant, DAILY, 10 full malas of OM MANI PADME HUM, 10 full malas of the Medicine Buddha Mantra – TADYATHA OM BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE MAHA BHEKANDZYE RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA, and 100 full malas of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva’s mantra. He has several and you can choose which of the following are you more comfortable with:
    1. OM PRA MANI DANI SOHA
    2. OM AH KSITIGARBHA THALENG HUM
    3. NAMO DI ZHANG WANG PUSA
    4. NAMO KSITIGARBHA BODHISATTVA
  2. Recite both the Wish Fulfilling and Negative Karma Cleansing Mantra.
  3. Do the usual rituals for the Hungry Ghost Month that I’ve written about in the past.
  4. Try to make offerings at the temple or church or give to charity as often as you can.
  5. In reciting the mantra of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, it will be better if you gaze upon his image.
  6. Light some incense and read the following sutras as often as you can – MEDICINE BUDDHA SUTRA and KSITIGARBHA BODHISATTVA SUTRA, which is known as THE SUTRA OF PAST VOWS OF THE EARTH STORE BODHISATTVA. The sutra of the Medicine Buddha is in a blog post that I wrote about Him. Please see link below. If you want a downloadable PDF file of the Sutra of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, please click Earth Store Bodhisattva and KSITIGARBHA BODHISATTVA SUTRA. The two versions are basically the same but slightly differ in the way it was translated. One of the difference is that in one of them Shakyamuni Buddha is simply called Buddha, which is is the more common term in addressing Shakyamuni Buddha is most of the Sutra translations. This is because it is widely accepted that all sutras that we have now are from the time of Shakyamuni Buddha. A sutra is basically a prayer and word of Buddha written in a story or conversation format.
  7. Avoid the usual things that one should avoid during the Hungry Ghost Month.

For the Mercury Retrograde periods (June 7- July 1; October 4 – 25), wear an image of Kuan Kong or Kalachakra, and if possible, wear or carry with you a Prayer Wheel and spin it as often as you can.

Optional for July 12 to Sept. 8 is also to wear the script of the Wish Fulfilling Mantra and the Negative Karma Cleansing Mantra.

There are a lot of things mentioned on this post that for some might be hard to understand. For example what really is Hungry Ghost Month, which I didn’t discuss in detail in these 2 posts about the 2014 Hungry Ghost Month, or about Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Kuan Yin, four Dharmakaya Relic Mantras, etc. I humbly suggest for you to read some of my previous posts to make you understand things that were discussed here better, or why were such items recommended as a cure.

Ksitigarbha Buddha is a Bodhisattva that Vowed to Help All Those Who Suffer in Hell and in this World!

Published Oktubre 6, 2013 by jptan2012

A few days ago I wrote and introduced you to the possible wonderful blessings of THE FOUR DHARMAKAYA RELIC MANTRAS, and the response has been truly overwhelming. Of course, regular readers are well familiar with WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT, and the several personal testimonies of people who has requested for it. Sometimes, between THE FOUR DHARMAKAYA RELIC MANTRAS, WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT, and the WEALTH AND MASTER PROTECTION PENDANT, which, unfortunately is no longer available for requests because of its price, I believe that there is no more excuse for us to go through any form of suffering. The truth Feng Shui, Taoism, and Buddhism has a lot of deities, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, not to mention power of symbols and mantras that can help alleviate us from any form of suffering.Ksitigarbha

However, why do many of us still suffer? Many of us still go through some form of suffering because of either of two things. One, it can be due to the fact that our house Feng Shui is bad, or it can be also due to karma, whether past life karma or recent karma. When I say recent karma, I refer to karma that is sowed during this current lifetime.

Nevertheless, still, we have a lot of Bodhisattva who have vowed to help uplift us from any form of suffering. First, of all these Bodhisattvas is the Goddess of Mercy, Kuan Yin or Avalokitesvara in Tibetan Buddhism. She remains to be the most popular and revered Bodhisattva. In fact, often times she’s referred to as the Bodhisattva of Compassion or Buddha of Compassion.

Today, allow me to introduce to you another such Bodhisattva, who in reality is already a Buddha but vowed to stay on as a Bodhisattva until such time there is no longer any soul in hell. I’m referring to Ksitigarbha Buddha, who again is actually a Bodhisattva.

Ksitigarbha Buddha, is usually depicted as a Buddhist monk, and for bigger temples, he usually has his own temple hall. In the Philippines, and smaller hall he is usually placed at the memorial halls of the dead or mausoleums this is because of his vow to save people from hell. Personally speaking, I believe this is a limitation of how Ksitigarbha should be perceived. A lot of Filipino – Chinese Buddhists thinks of Ksitigarbha only as a Bodhisattva of the souls of the dead. While it’s perfectly true and accurate, this belief doesn’t paint the whole picture of who Ksitigarbha truly is.Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva

Ksitigarbha Buddha or Dizang P’usa (also spelled as Ti Tsang P’usa, he is also called in Chinese as Dizang Wang P’usa or Ti Tsang Wang P’usa). There are a lot of translations of Ksitigarbha’s name in English, but the most common one is Earth Store.

Ksitigarbha Buddha or Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is known for his vow to take care take responsibility of souls that are experiencing hell. This is where the translation becomes a little muddy; because some people took it to mean the literal hell, and while they are not incorrect, they’re not entirely correct either. I personally believe the other translation, hell means suffering, whether these are the souls that are suffering when they are in – between transitions from one earth life to another, or it is suffering because of what we are going through here on earth. Some people seems to have forgotten that Ksitigarbha’s vow is to take responsibility for the enlightenment of all souls in the six worlds between the physical death of Gautama (Sakyamuni or Shakyamuni) Buddha (also known as the Historical Buddha) and the rise of Maitreya Buddha (also known as the Happy Buddha or the Future Buddha), with this vow is the vow of not entering Buddhahood until all hells are emptied.

KsitigarbhaI mentioned earlier that Ksitigarbha Buddha is second to Bodhisattva of Compassion, Kuan Yin in terms of ‘popularity’ and followers to East Asian Buddhist. What’s striking is that Kuan Yin, became a woman in China from the male form of Avalokitesvara.

Ksitigarbha also had a transformation of gender, however with Ksitigarbha, he was she before she became a he. Also, unlike Kuan Yin, it is believed that Ksitigarbha really became a human being.

Much of what we know about Ksitigarbha Buddha or Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is base on his own sutra, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Purvapranidhana Sutra, which is one of the most popular sutra in Mahayana Buddhism. It is said to have been spoke by Sakyamuni Buddha himself to the Trayastrimsa Heaven towards the end is earth life.ksitigarbha3

To this day it’s not clear whether the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Purvapranidhana Sutra has an Indian or Chinese origins. It was first believed that Tipitaka Master Siksananda, who is a famous Buddhist monk from Khotan who also provided a new translation of the Avatamsaka Sutra and the Lankavatara Sutra, translated it from the Sanskrit into Chinese during the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century. However, among all the sutras, Ksitigarbha Sutra strongly advocates filial piety, w/c was stereotype associated with Chinese culture. It talked about Ksitigarbha’s filial piety as a human or mortal, which lead to great vows to save all sentient being. Furthermore, no Sanskrit manuscript of Ksitigarbha’s sutras was ever found, which strengthen the belief that it is of Chinese origin.

According to his sutra, Ksitigarbha was a maiden in the distant past eons. He or she was of the Brahmin caste named Sacred Girl. She was said to have shown love and respect towards her parents, especially her mother. When her mother died, Sacred Girl became deeply troubled because her mother had been very slanderous towards the Triple Gem. Wanting to save her mother from the tremendous tortures of hell, Sacred Girl sold everything she has to buy offerings for the Buddha of her era. The Buddha then is known as the Buddha of the Flower of Meditation and Enlightenment. Remember that Sakyamuni Buddha was then still a Bodhisattva.

Some Buddhists, specially in japan and China (where the one child policy is forcing women to commit abortion), Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is considered as the Bodhisattva for the souls of babies who died.

Some Buddhists, specially in japan and China (where the one child policy is forcing women to commit abortion), Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is considered as the Bodhisattva for the souls of babies who died.

Sacred Girl would always make offerings and recitation of prayers to help save her mother’s soul. One day, while she was making an offering and prayers at the temple, she heard the Buddha of her era telling her to go home and recite his name in meditation if she truly wants to know how her mother was in the other world. She did what she was told and her consciousness through a vision was transported to a realm of Hell.  There she met the guardian of hell who informed her that through her offerings and fervent prayer, she has helped her mother accumulate enough merit to negate her karma and she has ascended to heaven where she awaits to be reborn. Sacred Girl was greatly comforted with this; however, she saw the suffering to the souls in Hell, which greatly affected her. She then made a vow to do her best to relieve the beings in hell of their suffering in her future lives.

It is normal that people will call Ksitiagrbha a Buddha even if he is actually a Bodhisattva. That is because like Kuan Yin, it's his choice to remain a Bodhisattva to help suffering people and sould.

It is normal that people will call Ksitiagrbha a Buddha even if he is actually a Bodhisattva. That is because like Kuan Yin, it’s his choice to remain a Bodhisattva to help suffering people and sould.

At this time Sacred Girl is already considered as living Bodhisattva, much like how some people consider the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and Lama Zopa Rinpoche to be a living Bodhisattva. When Sacred Girl left her physical body and went to heaven, she was given the chance to go back so she can start her vow to save souls. This time she chooses to be male monk. Before he left heaven to assume his new life as a monk, he found that her mother when she was still Sacred Girl would also go back to earth to take a life of a dog; this is because she has to earn a lesson from being slanderous about the Triple Gems.

Ksitigarbha as a monk seek out Sacred Girl’s mother who is now a dog. The dog often acted as Ksitigarbha’s guard, which is a way for Sacred Mother’s mom to repay Sacred Girl’s love.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is popularly depicted in two ways, one as a bald monk and the other one as a monk who wears a Five Leave Crown. He is depicted either seated or standing up on a lotus base. On his right hand is the Ringed Staff, which is carried by a lot of monks during his time. The Ringed Staff is also called the Alarm Staff; it is used to warn animals and insects that he is arriving so that he can avoid harming them by unintentionally stepping on them. In Feng Shui the ringed staff has come to symbolize the announcement of an impending danger. On his right hand is the Wish Fulfilling Jewel, which actually is a pearl. The Wish Fulfilling Jewel symbolizes the fact that Ksitigarbha has ability to help us fulfill our wishes. The Wish Fulfilling Jewel becomes a Fireball to help subdue negative energies such arguments or fighting. So it is not surprising that in some temple, you’ll see Ksitigarbha holding a round ball signifying the Wish Fulfilling Jewel, while in other he holds the Fireball. These two are actually one and the same. In Feng Shui, the Ksitigarbha fireball signifies the taming of arguments and fighting.

Having an image of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva at home or as a pendant, will help people who are going through some hardships, Ksitgarbha will help make things better. Furthermore, having his image at home or as a pendant will also help people deal with the compulsion or addiction. Addiction and compulsion are a form of hell and suffering, thus devotion to Ksitigarbha will help. People who are going through a difficult time will get some relief if they have the image of Ksitigarbha.

If wearing it as a pendant, I prefer the image with the five leave crown. This is a rare red jasper Ksitigarbha pendant from my personal collection.

If you are suffering from a fixed karma, meaning karma from your past life and as indicated on your Paht Chee or Bazi, having Ksitigarbha’s image and reciting his mantra will help eradicate this negative past karma.

The mantra for this is OM PRA MANI DANI SOHA.

The other mantra for Ksitigarbha Buddha is OM AH KSITIGARBHA THALENG HUM.

His mantra in Chinese is NAMO DIZANG WANG P’USA.

If you wish to get an image of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, I find that an image of Ksitigarbha made of red jasper, or red amber is the best. The one made of jade only works for a select group of people.

Again, if using an image of Ksitigarbha at home, I prefer to use the one with the crown, unless, he is placed the ancestral altar.

Between the FOUR DHARMAKAYA RELIC MANTRAS, the images in the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT, GUAN YIN, KSITIGARBHA BODHISATTVA to name just some of the things that I’ve written there is no reason for us to suffer, as long as we keep our hearts pure and consciousness clean.
