Feng Shui Gives You An Excuse to Party!

Published Marso 21, 2012 by jptan2012

There are times when even your Feng Shui forecast says that you will be experiencing a spade of good luck, but you just don’t have the energy to go and grab these good luck. If you’ve been reading about my posts, you’d know that there’s a Holy Trinity of Luck, which consists of Heaven, Earth and Mankind luck. Sometimes just one simple mistake can ruin your good Heaven and Earth luck. So you have to be very keen on checking on yourself.

However, as mentioned, there are times that even with good Heaven and Earth luck, you’re just simply not up to grabbing the opportunities set about by the two lucks. You may be feeling down with no apparent reason, or you can be simply be feeling out of touch! When this happens, I suggest you bring about a blast of yang energy into yourself.

How do you do this? You do this by having a party! It need not be a grand party wherein you need to spend ridiculous amount of money, it can be a small party participated by people who truly cares for you. It can be your family, friends, and colleagues. Invite them, preferably to your house, and serve some good food. Try to play some happy music. Make a conscious effort that you don’t talk about problems but rather focus on the good things, you can sing with your friends, or play board games with them. Be merry! A clean happy party is a burst of Yang energy and it will surely uplift you. If done in your home, it will also energize your house with Yang energy brought about by the party!

Goddess Tara, The Mother of Swift Liberation

Published Marso 11, 2012 by jptan2012

So far, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas I’ve written about here are Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that are recognized both in Tibetan Buddhism and Chinese Buddhism. However, now, allow me to introduce to you one of the most powerful Goddess in Tibetan Buddhism that is not highly recognized in Chinese Buddhism. I’m talking about Goddess Tara!

I don’t really know why is it when Buddhism was first brought to China; the belief in Tara was never really embraced. Theoretically speaking, Goddess Tara is older than Kuan Yin in the sense that Goddess Tara has existed in India and Tibet before Buddhism was introduced in China. Of course, to clarify, this is only true in the sense that Kuan Yin who in reality is Avalokitesvara really started in China. However, if you look at Kuan Yin as Avalokitesvara, which should be the case, then Kuan Yin is older than Goddess Tara. To understand better what I’m talking about here please read my earlier post called – UNDERSTANDING MERCY AND COMPASSION: THE TRANSFORMATION OF AVALOKITESVARA TO KUAN YIN.

Goddess Tara is a very powerful Goddess or Buddhist Deity. She is often called ‘The Swift Liberator’, ‘The Mother of Swift Liberation’, ‘The Goddess of Mercy and Action’, ‘The Goddess Who Saves’. This is because Goddess Tara has always been swift in liberating the people who ‘go’ to her in any kind of problems. She’s also called as ‘The Goddess Who Saves’ because she is sure to save people who are in trouble.

There are different manifestations of the Goddess Tara, which I’ll be writing about in the future.

Tara means ‘Star’ or ‘She who ferries’. This means Goddess Tara helps acts as a focal point that guides us in our lives to choose the ‘right direction’. If you’re unsure of what to do or if you have to choose from 2 different decisions, asking Goddess Tara’s help will direct you to the better path.

Goddess Tara is also called as the ‘Goddess Who Saves’ because in Buddhism it is said that Goddess Tara has committed us from the Eight Great Terrors. The 8 Great Terrors in modern times refers to any kind of spiritual and physical danger.

The Goddess Tara is also known as the Swift Liberator because it is said that if you need something that’s urgent, Goddess Tara is the one who can swiftly help us.

The other name for Goddess Tara is Green Tara because she is usually pictured as a green – colored Deity.

She is usually portrayed as a young woman; some say she is a 16-year-old woman, clad in silk. For me, Goddess Tara’s energy is very lively and she’s quick to response. Goddess Tara holds a blue lotus called an Uptula in her right hand, her hand is in the vitarka or teaching mudra. One of her legs is seen dangling, which signifies that she is quick to respond.

The story on how Goddess Tara came into being is in itself strong and powerful. It also accurately describes Goddess Tara. It is said that one day, Avalokitesvara, the original male form of Kuan Yin, was looking into the world with his infinite compassionate heart. He saw people suffering from old age. He saw the pain of those who are sick and those who are facing death. He saw the pain of those who are in need of material things and physical sustenance. He saw the hardship of people who wants to attain enlightenment. He saw the desire of the people to achieve happiness but instead because of ignorance gain more hardships and sufferings.

Avalokitesvara recognized his vast amount of energy to help this people, but he also saw that the number of people who are in need of his help is even greater. Because of this he was filled compassion and began to weep.

Out of his tears, a celestial lake was created, and from this lake arose Tara. She was created out of Avalokitesvara’s compassion and magical tears. She was created to help us.

Initially, I wanted to call this post – MY LIBERATOR, THE GODDESS TARA, because that’s how I truly feel about her. The first time I heard and came across Goddess Tara, I already felt an instant affinity towards her. I immediately have a deep reverence towards her. Nevertheless, I felt her infinite power at a time when I have to decide whether to continue work at the PR firm that I worked for or just to leave and join our family business.

Deep in my heart I really know that it’s time for me to leave the company that I’m working for. While I was trusted and given the liberty to run a business unit that is worth three million pesos a month, my boss is also making life hard for me. She is a very ‘envious’ woman. She gets jealous if we ran into clients, and because she don’t see them, they naturally would say ‘Hi’ to me first before acknowledging her. She would question me as to why the clients would greet me first and acknowledge her after. Furthermore, I also felt I was not properly being compensated. To makes things worst my nephew thought that I only go home on weekends! He had this impression because he doesn’t see me come home, and he doesn’t see me leave the house. I was so busy that I’d go home at around 11PM or 12MN and leave around 6AM. It felt like I was a boarder in our house. I also notice that slowly my family has stopped inviting me to dinner because they felt that I wouldn’t be able to make it anyway.

The worst is I don’t like my boss. I don’t like how she treats her employees, her clients, and even the media who really is the lifeline of her business. She feels that everybody can be bought with money or with designer bags or clothes or trips abroad! In fact, to this day I still have recordings for her saying nasty things against our clients and the media!

I love my job but I know I have to leave. But, what do I do after I leave? Will I be happy to if I join our family business? Reviewed by luck pillar for that year and showed something big is about to happen in about 2 months time…something good. But what is that? I also know that there is the holy trinity of luck – Heaven, Mankind, and Earth. The indication of the Heaven’s Luck is something big and good is about to happen but what if I make a mistake and ruined that luck.

I prayed to Goddess Tara and she put everything in order. She gave me the courage and a reason to resign. That’s the easiest part. What about what should I do next? I resigned without being sure what to do next; I just trust that my Bazi is right, and that I’ll supplement everything with proper Earth Luck, which is Feng Shui.  But Goddess Tara again made sure that my ‘liberation’ would be perfect. I was already thinking of joining our family business, when I started getting calls from clients from my previous employers. They all basically said the same thing, they are resigning and terminating the contract with my previous employer and they hope that I can still work with them. I told them I’m planning to join my sister with our family business, and they all again more or less responded the same manner. They all said that whether I choose to work with them or not, they’ll be resigning their PR agency, my former employer. They also added that they hope they can still work with me, if not, can I recommend another PR for them.

I realized that this just might be the thing for me. Maybe this is my next stage! I did an oracle, both inquiring with Kuan Yin and Goddess Tara whether I should just put up my own marketing and PR consultancy company. Both oracles showed an affirmation.

Without looking for clients, I actually have 5 accounts already, and they’re all from my previous employer. But then I felt it was quite unethical for me to sign on the accounts from my previous company, but they all reiterated that whether I decide to continue to work with them or not, they’ll resign and terminate my previous employer. To bridge the desire to work with them and the guilty feeling of taking on these accounts barely 2 weeks after I’ve resigned, I told them that I would only be willing to consider once they’ve resigned and terminated the contract with my previous employer. They did just that!

It certainly feels like that everything is being laid out in front of me. I don’t really have to pursue anything. I just have to take on the opportunity or not!

Another thing that really helped me decide is when I found out that my former boss is bad mouthing me with the said clients. She even went as far as concocting an outrageous lie. But she further dig her own grave when one time she, thru sms, was bad mouthing me with a client saying that she was just on the phone with me and that I said this and that. Little did she know that at that time I was having a late lunch with a said client. The same time she said that I was just on the phone with her. If I was on the phone the client would have known and heard because I never left her side for about 2 hours.

When I found out what she was doing, I realized that while I should be forever grateful of all the things that I learned from her. But I should not feel bad about leaving her!

Goddess Tara made sure that my liberation will be swift and she provided me with an opportunity to do what I really love to do.

Heaven, Earth, Mankind: The Holy Trinity of Luck

Published Marso 3, 2012 by jptan2012

Is Feng Shui everything?

It’s easy to simply focus on Feng Shui because its mysticism is quite alluring but more than that it’s really comforting and easy to rely with something that we can buy or with something that we can simply adjust. However, Feng Shui is not everything. Feng Shui is not the only thing that affects our luck…our destiny. The truth is Feng Shui is simply 1/3 of the equation. There are other factors that governs our destiny our life.

The three factors that determine our fate are the HEAVEN, EARTH, AND MANKIND LUCK, which is also called the HOLY TRINITY OF LUCK. The word luck here might be a little misleading or limiting, because, without the prefix bad, we usually associate luck with good things. LUCK here refers to either bad luck or good luck.

Each of the Holy Trinity of Luck all affects our destiny and as you will see after reading my explanation of each luck they are all interconnected with each other.

HEAVEN’S LUCK is something that is dictated by our birth and maybe the least of the 3 lucks that can be controlled. If you’ve been reading my blog, you now more or less understand that the principles of BAZI or Feng Shui states that our birth determines what kind of luck we’ll have or what kind of relationships are we going to have with our family and friends. In fact, it even defines our personality and character. Furthermore, it defines where we’re born, when we’re born, what kind of family we’re born into.  So this is something that’s beyond control, and this already dictates 1/3 of your life luck and may be hard to change. However, another school of thought states that our Heaven’s Luck is actually determined by our karma created in our past lives. This may be a little controversial for people who don’t believe in reincarnation, but Buddhism and Taoism both states that we do in our past life of past lives affects our present life, in the same manner, whatever we do now will have an effect on our Heaven’s Luck in our future life.

Also, in Buddhism, Heaven’s Luck refers to the intervention of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, thus the need to recite mantras, read and/or carry the Sutras, make offerings of incense, offerings of flowers, water, and food, etc.

The Taoist has a slightly different view regarding this matter, they believe praying to Taoist Gods, Deities, and Immortals can only bring so much help. Taoist believe that Taoist Gods can only help us up to the extent that is allowed by the luck determined by one’s Heaven’s Luck. Meaning, the power of Taoist Gods are not infinite when it comes to changing one’s karma. Our past deeds will have the final say as to the 1/3 Heaven’s Luck we have.

EARTH LUCK is Feng Shui. Most of you who have been reading my blog now will have basic understanding of how Feng Shui works, so I really won’t discuss EARTH LUCK here. However, I would like to say that we still don’t have full control of this because the truth is, although I really haven’t discuss it further on this blog, is that Feng Shui of our homes, office, neighbors, or personal Feng Shui are not the only Feng Shui that affects us. To a certain extent Feng Shui of the city, the province, the country and its relation to its location affects us also. As you will see this is also partly due to our Heaven’s Luck.

MANKIND LUCK is the thing that we may be able to totally control, but also more often than not it’s the thing that we neglect most. Mankind Luck refers to our thoughts, words, and actions that all create an immediate karma that also contributes to our over-all luck.  Furthermore, Mankind Luck basically refers to our everyday decision and course of actions on things that we do about every day matters like how we act or react on things done to us by our relatives, friends, colleagues, boss, or clients. It also refers on the things that we do on to ourselves, or on decisions regarding our work or business or career. Some Feng Shui teachers state that Mankind Luck is also defined by the actions of the people who surround us.

As you will notice these three lucks is not a stand-alone luck. They all work hand in hand. You might have a really bad Heaven’s Luck but because you practice good Feng Shui and create good MANKIND LUCK by creating good karma and by working hard you already have a 2/3 chance of a better life.

On the other hand, you can have very good Heaven’s Luck and may not be practicing good Feng Shui and/or continuously create bad Mankind Luck by being lazy or doing bad things. You would have obviously wasted your Heaven’s Luck.

In the same manner, you could be energizing your Earth’s Luck with good Feng Shui, however, you really have a bad Heaven’s Luck and continuously to create bad Mankind Luck by being lazy or pessimistic or by creating bad Karma. Then obviously Feng Shui won’t do anything long term or worthwhile for you. You would have negated all the good Feng Shui you created.

Furthermore, if you were to subscribe to the belief of karma and reincarnation, Mankind Luck will also have great effect on Heaven’s Luck. In the same manner that practicing good Feng Shui like what was suggested in my previous post about the Cicada will also help ensure a good rebirth, which is Heaven’s Luck.

I guess, what I’m trying to say is simple. Feng Shui works, but you need to work also. Furthermore, have faith in your God whatever religion you may have.

Feng Shui Tips to Activate Mentor’s Luck

Published Pebrero 29, 2012 by jptan2012

No one can do things on his or her own. No one is able to achieve success on his or her own. Not only its is absolutely wrong and egoistic to say that I made it on my own, no matter how much the person really believes this, but it is also one of the greatest lie fabricated by mankind. On our way to success, no matter how intelligent you are, no matter how hard you work, we will need somebody to help us get to the top.

We all need somebody to help us. We all need a mentor. Mentor here doesn’t only refer to people who are in power who can teach us things or help us in achieving our goals, although it’s the primary aspect of Mentor’s Luck, mentor here also refers to people who may not be our senior in stature, age, experience, but are around us can is able to contribute to our success.

In Feng Shui, there a lot of ways in which we can activate our Mentor’s Luck, and by doing activating our Mentor’s Luck we start to attract people who may help us along the way.

One of the primary and basic tip in activating Mentor’s Luck is by being positive ourselves. By being truly positive, we start to exude a powerful positive aura, which in turn will attract people who are also positive.

We actually often here people complaining and saying things like: ‘Why am I such a magnet for losers?’ or ‘Why do I always attract bad employees/employers? Or ‘Why do I end up with horrible lovers?’ Well, the answer is because Feng Shui and personal energies attract the people that we project.

So the first and most basic tip is to become positive ourselves!

After doing the first step of exuding a more positive attitude ourselves, we can further boost our Mentor’s Luck by doing the following:

CRYSTAL CLUSTER. Another simple way of activating Mentor’s Luck is by putting a crystal cluster on the Northwest section of your room, home, office, or table. A crystal cluster, which has several ‘points’ of energy has the power to cleanse the energy of the Northwest section, which in turn controls our Mentor’s Luck.

Use Citrine cluster for business or financial mentor luck; Amethyst cluster for someone who can impart to you intelligence and skills in life, rose quartz cluster for relationship mentor luck, and clear quartz cluster for an inner peace guru.

PICTURES. Placing pictures of powerful individuals in the Northwest section of your house or room. Pictures or images carry their own energies, thus praying in front of a Buddha, Bodhisattva, Deity, Immortal, Goddess, or Saint (for Christians) is a very powerful tool to achieve your wishes. However, when I said pictures, I’m not referring to the god of your religion but I’m referring to people who you want to emulate. This can be pictures of famous people like HH the 14th Dalai Lama, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Nelson Mandela, etc. I used to have a picture of Steve Jobs on the Northwest corner of my room, however, since his passing I’ve decided to take it out, because it’s too much Yin energy. Unless, of course, the person is a living Buddha before his/her passing, it’s best not to use a picture of a person who has passed away.

A friend who works as the country head of one of the largest NGO in the world was having a lot of problems in implementing their projects. She found herself losing patience and wanting to quit. She shared that she can just be like Mother Teresa, patient, truly loving, yet persuasive and powerful. I then advised her to put an image of Mother Teresa on the Northwest section of her condo unit, and in the Northwest corner of her office. She did! Needless to say 3 months after she placed the picture she gradually felt the effects of having the picture of Mother Teresa. The implementations of their projects are now smoother and they don’t meet as many hindrances!

Maitreya Buddha also known as the Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha

IMAGES OF BODHISATTVAS, IMMORTALS, OR DEITIES. Placing images of some powerful Bodhisattvas, Immortals, or Deities in the Northwest section your office or house is another great way of enhancing Mentor’s Luck. Furthermore, if an image of Bodhisattva or Immortal, or a Deity is used, other than enhancing your Mentor’s Luck by blessing the Northwest corner of their energies, you also tap into their blessing. I think this is the best way of activating Mentor’s Luck.

Furthermore, wearing their images as a gold or jade pendant will also bring out Mentor’s Luck blessing from them.

Use the image of the Maitreya Buddha also known as the Great Happy Buddha, Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha, if you’re working in a very place where there’s an absence of harmony and happiness. If you wish to know more about Maitreya Buddha please click here.

The image of Kuan Kong is highly recommended if you’re the head of a department. One of my previous post will help you know more about Kuan Kong.

The image of the ‘Great Sage, Equal of Heaven’ Sun Wukong also known as the Monkey King or Monkey God is good if you’re in marketing, advertising, sales, or any other field that needs a lot strategy making and creative thinking. To help you better understand why Sun Wukong is best for people whose career involves marketing, advertising, sales, and strategy making, do read my post about him by clicking here.

The Happy Fat Buddha: A Representation of Maitreya Buddha’s Blessings

Published Pebrero 16, 2012 by jptan2012
Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha

Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha

Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha, as he is famously called by non-Buddhists, is undoubtedly one of the most famous and recognized image of a Buddha. The Happy Fat Buddha is in reality not a Buddha, at least, not yet. He is currently a Bodhisattva and a future Buddha who’ll replace the existing Historical Buddha which is Gautama Buddha or Sakyamuni (also spelled as Shakyamuni) Buddha. The Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha is in reality known as the Maitreya Buddha.

Buddhist scriptures states that we are currently under the ‘era’ of Sakyamuni Buddha, which is the fourth Buddha to have appeared on earth, there have been 3 others before him. It is said that his arrival will be at the time of the low point of human existence. He will come at a time where in mankind has forgotten about the Dharma (Buddhist teachings). This is not totally impossible because as shown in what is happening in Tibet, under the rule of China, the original Dharma is being purged and destroyed, albeit with extreme resistance from Tibetans and other Buddhists, but unfortunately, still with a lot of success. This answers why even after several recitations of Mantras it is still bound to happen, because it was prophesied in the Buddhist scriptures. In China, Buddhism has really taken a lot of different interpretations that are watered down. Buddhism, as any other religion in China, is closely monitored and censored by the government. Same thing is currently happening in other parts of Asia, such as Myanmar.

Going back to Maitreya Buddha or Happy Fat Buddha as he is normally called, is said to come when mankind is in need to be reminded of the Dharma. At present Maitreya Buddha is at present said to be living in Tusita Heaven, a celestial place where celestial Bodhisattvas are said to reside. In Tusita Heaven, it is said in the Buddhist scriptures, Maitreya Buddha constantly recites mantras and sutras for us. He also continuously gets lessons in preparation for his coming to earth where he’ll achieve enlightenment within 7 days and become a Buddha so that he can impart to us the Dharma.

Typically pictured seated on a throne either cross legged or feet flat on the floor, signifying that he’s waiting for his time, Maitreya is originally pictured as a slim, handsome prince. He is also usually dressed as a Indian royalty (India being the origin of Buddhism). As representation of him being a Bodhisattva, it is not uncommon to see that he is also adorned with jewels. A Khata is usually tied around his waist much like a belt.

Maitreya Buddha pictured in his original image.

Another representation of Maitreya Budda.

The idea of him pictured as a Happy Fat Buddha came about of what he represents. The Maitreya Buddha represents wealth, health, love, happiness or joy, success, peace, and harmony. In short, he represents what each person aspire for.

There are several stories as to why the image of Maitreya Buddha became that of the Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha. In fact, Maitreya is derived from Maitri which means Loving Kindness.

One of the story states that the image of the Happy Fat Buddha came about because of the Chinese buddhist monk Budai. Budai either claimed or people saw in him the qualities of Maitreya Buddha (the written history about this are not clear) that when he passed away people started using his image as the image of Maitreya Buddha.

Another story claims that Maitreya one day visited earth to share the sutras, however, all the women are unable to absorb his teachings because all they can see is a very handsome young prince and they fell in-love with him. Seeing that his image causes women to be distracted he transformed himself to a fat bald man.

Still another story is quite simple. When Buddhism was introduced in China, they’re unable to comprehend some aspect of the teachings of Buddhism. For example, Kuan Yin is a female representation of Avalokitesvara, the ‘Male’ Buddha of Compassion. However, Chinese are unable to comprehend the idea of a very loving, gentle, compassionate MALE being,  to make it easier for the people to understand the character and teachings of Avalokitesvara, they decided to represent her with a female image called Kuan Yin or Kwan Sheer Yin (He or She who hears the cries of the world). Allow me to briefly share here that it is said that it is Avalokitesvara himself who instructed some Indian and Tibetan monks through a vision to represent him as Kuan Yin. This is not totally veering away from reality, because in truth, celestial Buddhist gods are androgynous, they are neither male or female, or it can be said they are both male and female. Since at that time Chinese always associates wealth and health with plumpness, and happiness, love, harmony with a happy face, these characteristics became the representation of Maitreya Buddha in China.

Personally, I believe that the 3rd story is the most plausible explanation.

When I come across a big image of the Maitreya Buddha as a the Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha, or when I pray to him, I usually rub his stomach to signify the asking of blessing. It’s an affectionate gesture. However, never touch the head of a Buddha, because in Buddhism it is only monks, your elders or superiors who can touch the head of a person who is ‘beneath’ them.

Aside from ‘Happy Fat Buddha’, ‘Laughing Buddha’, Maitreya Buddha is also called ‘Metteya’, ‘Puy Lok Yah’ (Fookien term for The Happy Fat Father), ‘Mi Lo Fu’ in Chinese, ‘Mile (pronounced as Mee-Lay) Pusa’ also in Chinese, Miroku Bosatsu in Japanese, Mireuk Bosal in Korean, Phra Sri Araya Metrai in Thai.

Most of the images of the Happy Fat Buddha depicts him on a relax mode. There’s another image of him on his legs. Either of the two images are considered very auspicious.

Placing the image of Maitreya Buddha, either as the handsome young prince or as the Happy Fat Buddha or Laughing Buddha helps generate his blessings of happiness, harmony, love, peace, wealth, good health, etc. However, in the Philippines it is easier to get his image as the Laughing Buddha. Also this particular image also gives a psychological effect for all those who see it. It reminds us to be happy, it reminds us to become positive, and at the very least, because of how he looks as the Happy Fat Buddha, it creates an atmosphere of happiness and harmony.

You can place his image either on your altar, or any parts of your house except in the bedroom (for married couples) and or in the rest room.

This is from my personal collection. I wear this pendant everyday. In choosing an image of the Happy Fat Buddha to be worn as a pendant, always look for the face. Make sure that it has happy jolly face.

Wearing an image of the Maitreya Buddha as a pendant is also very auspicious and serves as an homage to him. In return, you get to tap into his blessings.

When I was designing the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT, a pendant that I initially designed for myself and for my family but has since then become a popular charm for my readers garnering a lot of very positive personal testimonies, my frustration is not having enough space to include the image of the Happy Fat Buddha. However, since I have a separate Happy Fat Buddha pendant I see no need to include. I’m just happy that the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT has since then become an instrument of good luck to a lot of my readers.
