How to Help Victims of Typhoon Yolanda and Bohol Killer Quake

Published Nobyembre 27, 2013 by jptan2012

The Philippines was recently besieged by two major calamities. I’m talking about the Bohol Killer Quake and Typhoon Yolanda, with an international name of Typhoon Haiyan. Typhoon Haiyan is said to be the strongest typhoon in recorded history.

Have been actively involve in the relief operations in both calamities. My involvement helped me realized that sometimes the best way to help is to simply send in donations and relief goods.

I know that there has been an overflowing of relief goods being donated, but trust me when I say that they’re not enough. If you can please do send more relief goods to centers who still accept them, or better yet send in money, because money can be use to rehabilitate the affected areas and help people who need them.

However, let us not forget that aside from monetary and material help, we can also help by saying some prayers.

For Buddhists, we can recite the mantra of Avalokitesvara also known as Kuan Yin, or Goddess of Mercy. Her mantra is OM MANI PADME HUM. Recite as many full malas as you can. You can also recite the mantra of the Medicine Buddha. His mantra is . TADYATHA OM BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE MAHA BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA. Reading their sutras and dedicating it to the people affected by both calamities will also bring them some form of a blessing and help.

For Taoists, you can light some incense for the people who were affected by the calamities. You can all ‘Ti Yu’ or add oil on their behalf.

Drinking the Healing Power of Medicine Buddha, Avalokitesvara, and other Mantras: A Desperate Recommendation for a Desperate Reader

Published Setyembre 6, 2013 by jptan2012

All the wonderful testimonials of my readers who has requested and received and experienced a blessing associated with WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT(1), has inspired me to write again.

Today, allow me to share another personal testimony of a reader who has requested for some assistance in healing a sibling suffering from depression and diabetes.

MC was one of the lucky readers whose email I was able to read right away. She emailed me because she wants to have the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT(2).  However, as I always say, my greatest frustration with the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT(3) is that it is quite pricey and not all people can afford it. This is the case of MC. She can’t afford the pendant.WISHFULFILLING AND BUDDHA BLESSING FRONT1

MCs problem is her sister who lives with her. She is somebody that we can call an old maid, and according to MC her sister is really one of the nicest person in the world that is why it pains her to see her sister suffering.

MP, MC’s sister, both of their names starts with M, was diagnosed to be clinically depressed. Add to this problem is the fact that her depression is making her diabetes really bad. Her psychiatrist has prescribed some medicine but according to MC, MP seems to be in denial and refuses to take the medicines. Worst, is that she has stopped taking her diabetic medicine which cause MP to go hypoglycemic. She almost died because of it. MC feels that it’s MPs way of committing suicide.

Because MC is unable to afford the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT(4), I told her to chant the MEDICINE BUDDHA MANTRA, the MANTRA OF THE GODDESS OF MERCY, the WISH FULFILLING MANTRA, and the NEGATIVE KARMA CLEANSING MANTRA with her sister. Unfortunately, MP was not cooperative and refuses to recite the mantras. I then advised MC to print out the mantras and stick them in MPs room, so she’ll see them and benefit from it. As I stated in my post about MANTRAS one need not understand them to benefit from them.

However, that particular recommendation didn’t work as well because she would MP would take out the printed copies of the mantras and throw them away. I then told MC to simply chant the mantra beside her sister, if possible, let the sister hear her. But then again, MP would physically dragged MC out of her room if she chants the mantra.

At this point, I thought I could no longer do anything for MC and MP. However, MC was desperate and wants to make her sister well. She bugged me to help them. This is when I remembered the ‘energized’ water principle, which I call Temple Water that we used to drink. This was the subject of my last post called – CAN WATER INFUSED WITH OUR THOUGHTS AND WORDS AFFECT US?

I then told MC that there is something that we might be able to do for MP but I’m not sure whether it’ll work. But MC was really desperate and was willing to try anything just to make MP better.

I decided to prepare the ‘TEMPLE WATER’ myself. Remember, I just call it ‘Temple Water’ because we used to drink that kind of water from the temple. I bought five bottles of 1 liter of bottled water. I then took out the label, replaced it with a print out of the mantras that I thought will be useful for MP, the ones that I recommended MC to recite with MP. Then I decided to chant those 3 full malas each of those mantras everyday for 7 days. Whenever, I’m not around I will simply play my Medicine Buddha Mantra recording and the Mantra of the Goddess of Mercy, Kuan Yin, also known as Guan Yin or Avalokitesvara – OM MANI PADME HUM. I also did this for 7 days. Then I handed over the bottled waters to MC and instructed her on how to do it herself. The water was then served to MP without her knowing it. Little did MP know that she’s been drinking ‘Temple Water’ everyday.

Symbolic Script of the Mantra - OM MANI PADME HUM. This is considered as the 'national' mantra of Tibetans. All the Dalai Lamas has a special affinity with this mantra because they are believed to be the direct incarnation of the 'energy' of the Bodhisattva of Compasion Avalokitesvara or Kuan Yin.

According to MC, a week after MP started drinking ‘Temple Water’ she started taking her medicines, gradually she became better and has started going back to work. Her diabetes is also better.

But more than that, their mother who suffered from a stroke is also so much better now. She has since then started walking. I was previously unaware of the condition of the mother, but MC has decided to give their mother the ‘Temple Water’ as well, and now three months after she has started to walks again.

As for me, I have decided to make ‘Temple Water’ for us here at home and we all started drinking ‘Temple Water’ again!

NOTE: I do not in anyway recommend that one replace medicine with the TEMPLE WATER. If you’ll remember MP still took her medicine. Also, depression is a serious problem. If you think you or somebody you know is suffering from depression, seek professional help ASAP.

Another Wish Fulfilled with the ‘Wish Fulfilling and Buddha’s Blessing Mantra Pendant’ –

Published Abril 6, 2013 by jptan2012

It was several months ago when I got an email about a woman who shared with me how the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT fulfilled her wish. I called the post Wish Fulfilled with the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT – A PERSONAL TESTIMONY OF A READER.

As the title indicates, this is yet another personal testimony of a reader.

I wanted this post to be written by my reader who shared with me this experience. However, she declined saying her written English is really. Well…mine is bad either, but that’s a different topic. 🙂

Anyway, K is a 37 years old married woman from Chinese – Vietnamese who resides in Vietnam. She first contacted me late last year through email, according to her it was her 4th email and I didn’t reply to her first three emails. I apologized to her and explained that I received about between 50 to 75, there are times that it goes beyond 100, emails a day, and as much as I want to read all of them and respond to all emails, it is just physically impossible. As most readers would know this is just something that I do because I want to and that I have my own business that I need to take care of and not to mention that I recently just got a new dog. But that’s another story on its own.

Going back to K, she emailed me because she wants to ask for a Feng Shui help. K has been married to her husband for more than 10 years, and they have two daughters and a son. According to K, her husband and she are childhood sweethearts and that she knows that her husband is a good person. However, because of the nature of her husband’s job that entails a lot of travelling to other countries, he is always out of the house.

Little by little, K noticed that her husband since to become more aloof, and it was no longer just the physical separation that she has to think about but also the emotional separation. In fact, K said that her husband seems to be not home even when he’s home. She soon found out that her husband is involved with an Indonesian woman.

She was really surprised as much as she was hurt about what she found out, because she really believes that her husband is a very good person and that they were truly in-love, but more than that the husband has requested for a legal separation and that they he has moved out of the house.

Her kids took the separation badly and they started failing in schools and started becoming problem children. Furthermore, K’s career seems to be stagnant and her financial growth seems to have been stagnant for the past several years.

I decided to ask for K’s birthdate and did her Bazi for her. After which I also suggested a slew of Feng Shui cures for her problems. I didn’t dare recommend the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING AND MANTRA PENDANT because I myself find it to be quite pricey. However, K asks for it and insisted that I get her one. I did. I never heard from K again, that is not until approximately 2 weeks ago.

Front side of the WISH FULLFILLING AND BUDDHA'S BLESSING PENDANT

Front side of the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING PENDANT

It was around 10pm when I receive a call on my mobile phone with an unknown number. I debated whether to take the call because I already had a really busy day and was quite tired. But curiosity got the better of me and I answered. It was K, calling me long distance from Vietnam.

I still remember the very first words of K, she said – JP, I GOT GOOD NEWS! I THANK YOU FOR HELP! MY FAMILY TOGETHER AGAIN! – She said in broken English. I didn’t quite get it right away, because by then I’ve forgotten about her situation, besides she didn’t even introduce herself. I said welcome and asked who was on the phone. She then introduced herself again.

According to K, after she got the pendant, she was very excited about the change that will come. However, after a week she didn’t notice any change that she got a little disappointed. She wanted to just take it off, however, she said she’d just give it a chance. About a month after she got the pendant, her boss informed her that she was being transferred to another department, to head it, and naturally, there was an increase the salary as well. Not only that, after about 2 weeks after she was informed of her promotion, her children’s school guidance counselor called her to inform her that her children is slowly growing back to their old self.

At that point, she started attributing all of the changes to the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT, but a part of her is not sure. Then she got a call from her husband who requested to meet with her. She agreed, and in tears and literally on bended knees the husband requested for forgiveness and requested that she accept her again.

She called me the night after her husband moved in to their house again. She said it was really the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT that fulfilled all fixed her problems.

The back side of the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA MANTRA BLESSING PENDANT has the images of the Victory Banner, Lung-Ta or Windhorse, the seed syllable of the Goddess Tara - TAM, and the symbolic script of the MEDICINE BUDDHA MANTRA, WISH FULFILLING MANTRA, and the NEGATIVE KARMA CLEANSING MANTRA.

Fu, The Taoist’s Magical Paper Talisman

Published Agosto 15, 2012 by jptan2012

I have been wanting to write about the Fu (Mandarin) or Hu (Foo Kien) for quite some time now, however, I debated whether it is proper for me to write about the Fu because it is something that is not easily available or something that can be bought in a store.

This Fu is from a Taoist temple in Valenzuela called Bi Tsong Put (pronounced as Bee Chong Poot). Depending on the Fu, one usually burns a set, one set is usually 3 pieces.

Fu or Hu is a Taoist magical paper talisman. Fu is an ancient and special form of ‘magic’ or sorcery (sorcery is not exactly negative unless use in a negative way) that uses special characters or images or symbols or prayers or words ‘printed’ on a yellow rice paper in red ink. It is believed that a Fu can store a magic spells and good chi. While anybody can make a Fu or Hu, it entails a special skill and blessing from a Taoist God  for you to be able to lock the magic spell or chi in the said magical paper talisman. To do this one has to be an ordained Taoist priest or a Taoist God medium. The said chi and spell is further locked into the Fu by making sure that it passes through the incense burner dedicated to the said Taoist God, Immortal or Deity mentioned in the Fu.

Anyone can activate and tap into the power of the Fu by carrying the magical paper talisman on one’s body, putting them on the window or door, or placing in the room, or simply by burning them. Most Fu or Hu are burned while one calls on the God, Deity or Immortal represented by the Fu followed by the intent. However, as mentioned, there are some Fu that are to be worn on the body like an amulet, or place on the door, etc.

Fu(s), I believe, is one of the most powerful talisman in the world, provided you get it from a reliable source, and from somebody who is not driven by monetary reasons. Unfortunately, in the Philippines, there are some temples that sell their Fu. I don’t believe that this is right, especially, if there are patrons who have greatly benefited from tapping the power of the Fu, that they sponsor printing of Fu(s).

There are different kinds of Fu(s), depending on the temple and sometimes depending on the purpose or intent of the person needing the Fu. One can use a Fu to invoke a God/Deity/Immortal’s help, to protect a household, heal the sick, or exorcise demons or bad spirits. Some people would associate the Fu like a petition paper, or a court order depending on the purpose or intent.

This is a Fu that I burn every morning. It is a Fu of a Taoist Temple in Abad Santos St., Manila called – CHEAT TAI SOON. Unlike most Fu, one set of this is 7 pieces.

There is no clear record as to what Chinese civilization first used the Fu, however, the Fu is mentioned in a lot of Chinese religious and political texts. An apocryphal Taoist text call Ku Wei Shu or Old Mystical Test, the role of Fu is associated with the last legendary Five Emperors of China, especially with Great Emperor Yu, the mysterious Emperor who founded the Hsia Dynasty.

It is said that the Great Emperor has stop a terrible flood that has devastated most of China by burning several Fu of the Goddess of the North Star.

This is the Fu of the Goddess of Mercy / Bodhisattva of Compassion / Kuan Yin. I make sure I burn at least one set of her Fu everyday.

Personally, I can attest to the power of the Fu, and I use it a lot in conjunction of my mantras and Feng Shui.

There was this one time when one of our houseboy went into a epileptic attack, some say he was being possessed by a spirit, we don’t really know, but I specifically remember my mom just got a set of Fu, burned it and after less than a minutes our houseboy became visibly relax. He was sent to the hospital, but the hospital said that they don’t think he had an epileptic attack, and our houseboy claims that he saw a dark shadow hovering over him.

This is the Fu of The Great Sage, Equal of Heaven – Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong has three different kind of Fu. This one is for personal, family matters.

Another experience with the power of the Fu that I had, happened when I was still involve in an NGO. One of our managers got an educational grant in Berlin, but he has to pay for her own airfare and board and lodging. The organization raised funds for her board and lodging, however, nobody has volunteered to shoulder her airfare. We decided to write to several politicians, travel agencies, and famous businessman. Unfortunately, all of them turned down our request, except for one Chinese businessman. When we called up his office, his secretary informed us that her boss has read the letter but that he really hasn’t replied. We are quite desperate already because our colleague is scheduled to leave in 2 days and she still hasn’t raise her airfare fund. We beg the secretary of the Chinese businessman to give us time to present our cause to the businessman himself, the secretary agreed and said we should go to their office that same afternoon and she’ll see whether she can give us 5 minutes with the Chinese businessman. We immediately left, and for some reason, I decided to bring a set of Fu (one set is 3 pieces) of The Great Sage, Equal of Heaven Sun Wukong. On our way, the secretary called my colleagues mobile phone and said that there’s no need for us to go because her boss has already informed her that he can’t finance my colleague’s trip. My colleague informs the secretary that we are already downstairs and begged her to still allow seeing the Chinese businessman. The secretary agreed and I decided to burn the Fu with the intent of getting the businessman to finance my colleague’s trip to Berlin. To make the long story short, we went up, had an audience with the businessman, and was asked a single question – How would the country benefit from this trip? – My friend gave her reply and she got the funds for her airfare!

This is another Sun Wukong’s Fu. This one is for business. There’s another one but I don’t have a copy of it, that is for health.

I know somebody who is sick of cancer and was given a ‘death sentence’ by his doctor. He started burning some Fu and now he is well. Even his doctor was surprised that he won over the cancer.

There are a lot more stories about the power of the Fu, be it about money, business, personal problems, etc. The Fu has always made magical solutions for seemingly unsolvable problems.

For one to be able to tap into the power of the Fu, the Fu is burned. You call on the Immortal/Deity represented in the Fu, then you say your intent. However, there are some Fu that can be worn on the body and or placed on the door, etc.

Suicide is Not a Solution

Published Hunyo 27, 2012 by jptan2012

I’ve received some emails from some of you inquiring as to why I haven’t post anything the past few days, in fact, for 20 days. I’ve been quite busy with work and I have to personally attend to two readers who sent me an email about suicide. I’m writing this post with their permission but I won’t really discuss their situation.

It feels weird that I’d received two emails from two different people contemplating suicide. Having a received a number of hoax emails, my initial reaction was to ignore the email or simply write a standard response, however, the emails felt real and more than that it is as if fate has ‘commanded’ to read their emails that day. I received several emails a day, and I have a huge backlog in responding to the said emails, as some of you may have experienced. Nevertheless, for some weird reason my attention was caught by this two different emails sent on two different dates.

There is something about their emails that really bothered me and it seems like there was a force that push me to reply. To make the long story short, I soon found out that those were real email, and real situations. The first thing that I did was to recognize the gravity of the situation, and the second thing that I did was to recognize the fact that I’m not trained to handle these kinds of situations.

I called up a clinical counselor friend to inquire how to handle the situation, she recommended some ways on how should I respond and then I hooked the two readers with her.

For Christians, suicide is a grave sin, and we’re taught that committing suicide will surely make your soul burn in hell for all eternity. In Buddhism and Taoism, it’s much more complicated, there is no clear response whether it is a sin or not. It really depends on the situation and the intent of the deed. However, one thing is clear though, suicide is not a solution.

In a Buddhist perspective, we are here on earth to achieve Buddhahood. Each lifetime is a consequence of a previous one and hopefully, the last one is always a little better than the previous one, until, one reaches Buddhahood. Unless, in extreme cases like when one commits suicide to save somebody else, or a nation, etc., committing suicide is definitely a solution, and it pulls you back several karma back from attaining Buddhahood.

It is in this sense, that for Buddhism, it is quite clear that suicide is not a solution, committing suicide will definitely bring you back to the same solution in your next lifetime or maybe even put you to a situation that’s even worse than your current situation.

If one is depressed and/or is contemplating suicide, the first thing that one should recognize is that you need to talk to somebody. It can be a relative, friend, or try one of those counseling hotlines.

If you’re Buddhist, you can also constantly recite the Mantra of the Buddha of Compassion – OM MANI PADME HUM.

If you’re Taoist, you can simply take a bath in a tub of water with salt. If possible do include some flowers.

If you believe in Feng Shui, you can also do the first two, and you can put salt in your room and make sure your room or house is well lit.

But most important of all, seek help!
