A Hungry Ghost Haunting and the Power of Chung Kwei!

Published Agosto 22, 2017 by jptan2012

Today, allow me to share with you a story about a former colleague who was being haunted only during the Hungry Ghost Month. The weird thing about this is that she is not Chinese and was not even familiar with the concept of Hungry Ghost Month, and mind you this happened more than 15 years ago when Filipinos might have heard of Feng Shui but are not aware of the Hungry Ghost Month or Ghost Month.

After not seeing Joyce for about a couple of years I suddenly got a call from her. She said she got my number from another former colleague and that she was not aware that I’m familiar with Feng Shui. She also said that it was another former colleague who told her to give me a call to ask for help. I have written about this colleague and he is the one who had buried dogs within their compound.

According to Joyce, once a year for several weeks she will see an image of two spirits in their house. She will see them on their window on their ground floor living room. Sometimes, they will just pass by or sometimes they seem to be looking for something. This is not something that happens everyday, but if it happens, it will happen often and will last for several weeks. She later said around 3 weeks to 5 weeks. Sometimes it will have several nights consecutively and sometimes it will happen once then several nights free of haunting then it will strike again.

There are times that when she goes home late, she will see these spirits outside their house seemingly wanting to get in. Sometimes she will see them in their garden. But she said lately (at the time that she consulted me) she sees them inside their house, and she was quite sure that those are the same spirits that haunts her every year.

She said that this has always bothered her but she cannot do anything because no one else seems able to see the spirits. And she contacted me because lately the spirits seems to be stronger and has moved inside their house. One time she saw them inside her parents’ room. Several times she saw them under the dining table, and what really scared her is that she often sees them inside her sick grandmother’s bedroom! As if this is not bothersome enough, the two spirits seems to be pulling her grandmother’s feet.

It was August when she called me and when she said that it happens only once a year for a period of several weeks, I knew then that it only happens during the Hungry Ghost Month. So I asked her whether it usually happens between July and September with slight variations. And she said yes. So it was easy to determine that those spirits were Hungry Ghosts.

I’m unable to communicate with spirits and neither am I an expert with this kind of matter. As to why they visit only during Hungry Ghost Month is obvious that they used to be humans who became Hungry Ghosts, but why that place and why are they only visible only to Joyce, that I cannot answer. However, the private nurse of Joyce’s grandmother claims that sometimes she can feel some presence in the room, and several times she seems to be awaken by something moving inside the room. Joyce’s grandmother can’t move. Several times also their house help and her mom claims to also feel some presence and sometimes they’ll hear a very faint moaning of anguish. So faint that they are not sure whether they heard something at all.

Chung Kwei Black Jade

This is a rare black jade pendant image of Chung Kwei. Was fortunate enough to find one in Beijing, China in a small shop. Remember in choosing a Chong Kwei or Chung Kwei or Zhung Kwei or Zhong Kwei, always get a something that’s made of a black stone or gold. Otherwise, it might not be very effective.

At that time the Vajrapani Ruel is not yet available, so the only thing that will definitely work for her situation is an image of Chung Kwei (also spelled as Chong Kwei, Chung Kui, Chong Kui, Zhong Kwei, Zhong Kui, Zhung Kwei, and Zhung Kui) made of high grade obsidian or gold or black jade. And so that’s what I gave her to use.

And according to Joyce since having Chung Kwei (one placed at their door and another one for her to wear) she has never seen the spirits again. That he was more than 15 years ago. To this day Joyce has kept Chung Kwei hanging in their living room and she has decided to constantly wear the her Chung Kwei pendant.

Please note that in getting a Chune Kwei it is only effective if it is made of high grade obsidian, gold, or black jade. A black tourmaline and onyx may work also. Lately there has been a proliferation of fake obsidian/onyx/black tourmaline Chung Kwei in Chinatown and in the malls.

A Lunar Eclipse, A Solar Eclipse, and the Hungry Ghost Month: A Warning that We Should All Try To Keep Safe!

Published Agosto 14, 2017 by jptan2012

A few days ago, BM, a reader and a friend from Davao, who regular readers of this blog would be familiar by this time, asked me about this year’s Hungry Ghost Month. She wants to know whether it is going to be particularly bad. If you look at the relation of the coming of the Hungry Ghost Month with the flying star of August and September, the effects should not be very bad, and so I told her that this year’s Hungry Ghost Month although we should still be very careful is not in any way particularly stronger unless you are born in the year of the Horse, Snake or Sheep.

However, when I said this I was really busy and haven’t really taken the time out to look at formation of the stars thoroughly, and so I was greatly surprised that during one of my business meetings, one of my clients who knows that I’m a Feng Shui writer asked me about the effects of the lunar eclipse. I was surprised because of my busy schedule I didn’t even realized that we just had a lunar eclipse, albeit a partial one. But of course this had me worried already, because every lunar eclipse is definitely followed by solar eclipse, and when I checked I found out that it would be a total solar eclipse!

Now whether we see the solar eclipse here in Asia or not is irrelevant because the effects is definitely worldwide.

I have written in previous articles that an eclipse is almost always a bad omen. This is whether the eclipse is solar or lunar. For this year’s solar eclipse, what makes it dreadful is that it happens on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Month, and I have never ever recalled than an eclipse happening on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Month, and this is most certainly an indication that something big either worldwide or to several countries will happen during the Hungry Ghost Month or will start during the Hungry Ghost Month.

In my annual forecast, I said something might happen on the 3rd quarter of this year, and this full solar eclipse on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Month seems to have validated this forecast, and so all of us have to be careful and take extra precaution. It will also greatly help if we can include in our prayers or dedication of merits our countries, the welfare of this world, and also the leaders of this world and of our countries.

On a personal level, it is best to stay indoor during the actual eclipse, and is also highly advisable to wear the Kalachakra Pendant, or carry the Vajrapani Ruel with a Chung Kwei. This is because this phenomenon also has the power wreak some bad luck in our lives. Financial problems might occur especially to those who are in the midst of big transition, or worst health or safety issues might arise especially to those who whose job or lifestyle is already putting them at risk more than a normal person is and definitely those who are already sick.

Regular readers of this blog knows that I hate being a messenger of doom, but this is something that we really need to face and be ready for. And as I always say, the reason we know these things in advance because we can do something about it.

Recite – A – Sutra (7): Recite the Ullambana Sutra on the 15th Day of the 7th Lunar Month – How the Hungry Ghost Month Is Not Just About Negative Energies – It Is Also Time To Change One’s Bad Fate to A Positive One!

Published Agosto 15, 2016 by jptan2012

Today is such a special day, not for any other reason but because today (again time of writing does not necessarily reflect day of posting, although this will be posted on August 16, 2016) I get to share with you, as instructed by my Guru Lama the Ullambana Sutra, which is one of the most important Mahayana Sutra that has to be chanted on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month that is popularly known as the Hungry Ghost Festival, but as you will see the worst day of the year is also the Ullambana Day, which is a tool for us to turn this day into a positive one.

But I think I’m getting ahead of myself. I really don’t know where to start because I’m really excited to share this. I have been wanting to write about this but my Guru Lama has prohibited me from doing so, but now he has agreed that I write about it.

So let me see. Where do I start?

The Hungry Ghost Month, which happens on the 7th lunar month, is a dreaded month. Its peak is on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month. For this year, the peak happens on August 17, 2016. So it’s eve, which is on August 16 and a day after that which is the 18th of August are considered to be the second most dread day. There are a lot of negativities associated with the Hungry Ghost Month and the Hungry Ghost Festival, in fact, I have written much about it also, and the following are just some of it:

If you notice, there was a particular attention on the 2014 Hungry Ghost Month only because the effects of the Hungry Ghost that year was particularly strong. It was quite a bad year that year. A lot of the negative worldwide things that are still happening now started that year.

It is because of the things that I have written about that the Hungry Ghost Month is one of the most dreaded months of the year. And rightly so because the threat that it brings are very real. In fact, this year, the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was filled with a lot of flaps from World Class athletes, there were also a lot of accidents and problems. Furthermore, on a personal level, I won’t be surprised if a lot of you are experiencing illness, depression, loss of money, or even loss of a relative, or had some accidents.

I have written extensively about the cures of the Hungry Ghost Month and will not write about them anymore but as some sort of review, the cures are Chung Kwei, Vajrapani Ruel, gold Kalachakra pendant, Surangama Mantra Amulet or even the Illness Suppression Amulet.

But today, what I would like to talk about is how the Hungry Ghost Festival, the day of the Hungry Ghost itself can be turned into a day of positive energy and attract good luck especially wealth luck and family luck.

I always say that when there is bad luck, I’m quite sure that the Buddha has provided us with the tools already. Sometimes we just have to discover them and find out about it.

The answer to countering this bad luck and turning it into a positive one is with the ULLAMBANA RITUAL. Needless to say the main ingredient in this ritual is by reciting the ULLAMBANA SUTRA!

First, what are the Ullambana Ritual and the Ullambana Sutra?

The Ullambana Sutra is one of the earliest sutras shared by Buddha Shakyamuni back at the days when He still has a physical body. The Ullambana Ritual is one of the oldest rituals; because it was first held during the time of Shakyamuni Buddha, again back at the days where He still has a physical body. Roughly speaking the ritual is about 3,000 years old. (Buddhism is about 500 years older than Christianity.)

If one does the Ullambana Ritual and chants the Ullambana Sutra, one has the power to save the lives of your elders up to 7 generations up. What good will this do? It will also create a tremendous amount of good luck for the one who did the ritual.

Ullambana is a Sanskrit word that means ‘to save from suffering’. Ullam means ‘being hung upside – down’, which was derived from a form of suffering experienced by Hungry Ghosts, and Bana means ‘to save’.

In the Buddha Speaks of the Ullambana Sutra, Maudgalyayana one of Buddha’s great disciple, Venerable Maudgalyayana, upon gaining the enlightenment and the Wisdom Eye, saw his mother became Hungry Ghosts and he saw that she is suffering and has an image of skin and bone, unable to take any food or drink. Venerable Maudgalyayana immediately made some food offering to his mother, but food when it was about to eaten by the spirit of his mother, turned into ashes. Venerable Maugdalyayana was deeply worried and asked Buddha for help.

At this point, allow me to lift several paragraphs from the website of BPL Monastery about the Ullambana Sutra and Ullambana Ritual:

Buddha told Maudgalyayana that due to his mother’s heavy karma Maudgalyayana alone was not enough to save her. On the 15th of July on the lunar calendar when all the monastics finished their summer retreat, he must offer to Sangha of the ten directions with a hundred kinds of delicacies. With the strengths of all the Sangha and the merit and virtue from such offering, he could then save his parents of the current life and seven lives past, and relatives from the suffering of the three evil paths.

Venerable Maudgalyayana followed Buddha’s instructions and was successful rescuing his mother from suffering as a hungry ghost. He then asked Buddha if Buddha’s disciples of the future wishing to practice filial piety could follow the Ullambana offering to help their parents of current and up to seven lifetimes past. Buddha answered, “Those who wish to practice compassionate filial conduct for the sake of the parents who bore them, as well as for the sake of fathers and mothers of seven lives past, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, the Day of the Buddhas’ Delight, the Day of the Sangha’s Pravarana, they should vow to cause the length of life of the present father and mother to reach a hundred years without illness, without sufferings, afflictions, or worries, and also vow to cause seven generations of fathers and mothers to leave the sufferings of the hungry ghosts, to be born among men and gods, and to have blessings and bliss without limit.”

Who should do the Ullambana Ritual?

Well, technically speaking, we should all do the Ullambana ritual for our parents and other family members who passed away. We can also do this for all our ancestors and also for all sentient beings who are suffering in the realm of the Hungry Ghost.

However, if you notice that your suffering or bad luck started when a parent or family member passed away then you should definitely do the Ullambana ritual for that family member. Also, if you are suffering from lack of financial luck and also if you have a tremendous family problem you should definitely do the Ullambana ritual.

How often should you do it?

Do it every year, even if your parents are not in the realm of Hungry Ghost, or even if they have been reborn or reincarnated already, they will still benefit from the Ullambana ritual.

But more than that, we who offer them the Ullambana ritual will also gain a lot of blessings, but this should not be the primary reason, the primary concern should be for those relatives who have moved on.

How to do the Ullambana ritual?

Nowadays, Buddhist temples have made it easy for us to do the Ullambana ritual. All you have to do is go to the temple, and then register or enroll the name of the dead person whom you want the benefits of the ritual be offered to. The temple will arrange for you all the necessary offerings. You may or may not attend the actual ritual, but attending is highly encouraged because the merits gained when you attend is so much better or higher if you are physically and emotionally participating in the said ritual.

However, the purpose of this post is to teach you on how to do the ritual. Why? Because doing it yourself is so much better than having it done. What I usually do is enroll the name of my departed ancestor to a Buddhist temple and let them do the ritual, but at the same time, we also do the ritual at home.

Doing the ritual is actually easy, albeit it might be a little tedious.

Below is the step-by-step guide on how to do the ritual on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month:

Note: You can do the ritual anytime of the day, but it is better to do it early in the morning. Also preparing the ingredients a day before will make things easier. The most ideal time to do this is around 2AM.

  1. Brush your teeth and take a bath. Do not eat anything.
  2. Put on decent clothing.
  3. On a big table, put in the center an image of a Buddha or a Bodhisattva.
  4. Then put the following:
    1. Bowl of cooked rice put some chopsticks or spoon.
    2. A bowl of each vegetable that is either boiled or steamed: Broccoli, Carrots (cut into cubes), Cauliflower, Upo (White Squash / Sitting Vegetable) or Sayote (Chayote), Sweet Potatoes (Cut into Cubes), Mushroom, Radish (cut into cubes).
    3. The following fruits arrange into a small pyramid like structure: Apples, Oranges, Pears.
    4. One brunch or piece each of the following fruits: Pineapple, Banana, Grapes, Papaya or Pomelo or Watermelon or Melon.
    5. Three bottled water.
    6. Three blankets.
    7. Three Red Envelopes (Ang Pao) with some money.
    8. Optional: One to three sacks of rice.
    9. Optional: Fabric that is similar to what the monks wear.
  5. Light a single incense stick and chant the INCENSE PRAISE:
    1. The censer is now lit, suffusing the Dharma realm;
    2. And from afar the scent is inhaled by the True Buddha Assembly.
    3. Auspicious are the gathering clouds, as we now request,
    4. With sincere and earnest hearts, that all Buddha manifests.
    5. Homage to the Enlightened One, cloud canopy of fragrance, Bodhisattvas, Mahasattvas. (3x)
  6. Then light a candle or lamp.
  7. Then on a piece of yellow paper (lengthwise of a standard size bond paper), write the name of the person, date of birth and date of death. You can also put “ANCESTORS OF (YOUR NAME)”. Then place the paper near the foot of the image of the Buddha or Bodhisattva. You can do the writing before hand. If more than one name, one paper for each name. Use a red pentel pen in writing the names of the dead person.
  8. Then put the incense on an incense burner or incense holder or on the rice.
  9. Then face the table (standing) or make shift altar and chant the following three times while your palms are together in front of your chest, about an inch below your chin:
    1. Namo Fundamental Teacher Shakyamuni Buddha
  10. Then still in the same position, chant the following:
    1. The dharma infinitely profound and subtle, is rarely encountered even in a million of kalpas. We are now able to hear, recite, and follow it, may we realized the Tatagatha’s true meaning.
  11. Then take a seat.
  12. Chant the Ullambana Sutra (3x). Download  The Buddha Speaks of the Ullambana Sutra here.
  13. After chanting the mantra, stand up again and chant the following: LI PO LI PO TI, QIO HÊ QIO HÊ TO, TUO LO NI DI, NI HÊ LA TI, PI LI NI DI, MO HÊ QIE TI, QIEN LING QIE TI SA PO HÊ (3X)
  14. Get the bowl of rice and pinch a small amount and throw it on the East, then do the process again, this time West, then South, then North, then Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, and Southwest.
  15. Then burn the yellow papers.
  16. Dismantle the make shift altar, starting with the image of the Buddha or Bodhisattva.
  17. Keep the blanket, and also the sack of rice (if you offered them). Also keep the cloth (if you offered them).
  18. Keep the ang pao or red envelope with money.
  19. Bring the blanket, sack/s of rice, cloth and red envelope (ang pao) to a temple and donate it.

Some Buddhist temple will do the Ullambana for 7 consecutive days. Some will do it a few days before the Ullambana festival itself, but if you’re doing it at home, it is so much better to do it on the day of the Ullambana Festival itself (15th day of the 7th lunar month / coincides with the Hungry Ghost Festival).

You can also recite the Ullambana Sutra after the Ullambana Festival/Hungry Ghost Festival without doing the full ritual. Always end the reciting of the Ullambana Sutra by saying: I DEDICATE THE MERIT OF THIS DEED TO MY “PARENTS” OR “NAME OF A PERSON” OR “ANCESTORS”.

Get Rid of All Negativities!

Published Agosto 13, 2016 by jptan2012

In my recent trip to Davao, I finally got to meet one of my reader turn friend, I’m talking about BM. Regular readers of my blog should be familiar with BM and in fact Angie whose story was shared also in the following posts – Half – A – Million Pesos Financial Luck for the Husband; A Career Luck of Promotion for the Only Child; And Continuous Flow of Money Luck and Wisdom Luck of Creativity for A Reader Who Got the Vajrapani Ruel and the Illness Suppression Amulet: Another Personal Testimony of A Reader! & Financial Blessing By Way of A Mysterious Money Deposit Received Two Days After Receiving the Vajrapani Ruel: A Personal Testimony of a Reader!  – even asked me about BM. Obviously, Angie is quite curious about BM.

I really cannot express how much BM has influenced me in making my decisions and also on how to deal with negativities. BM has always reminded me to just keep quiet and ignore negativities even if it comes from people, maybe especially from people. According to her this has been her secret in staying healthy, and feeling good. I suspect this is also the reason why she looks younger than her age, and despite being busy she looks fresh and relaxed.

But I’m veering away from what I really want to say. BM has been such a good influence over me and it’s proving that I’m learning a lot of things from her. One of these lessons is that for me to ignore or get rid of all negativities. Unfortunately, sometimes these negativities come from people.remove-suspicion-and-negativity

Recently, I ordered a Chung Kwei made from high-grade obsidian for BM. The guy who sells it is a Mainland Chinese married to a Filipino woman. During my conversation with the seller he agreed to give BM a discount, after we had agreed on the price he passed on to his wife the duty of sending it to me. There was a delay, and when I followed it up with her, she rudely said, “Never mind that it’s late, you got a big discount anyway!”

My usual self might have answered her back politely. However, I remembered BM’s statement and realized that I should just keep my mouth shut. I did. Thanks to BM I didn’t get any negative karma by answering back.

Just today (time of posting may not reflect time of writing), a lady reader called me to tell me that somebody supposedly called her. According to her that this woman who called told her that my Guru Lama is dead or has died and he used to head this Buddhist temple in Antipolo.

First, there is no Buddhist temple in Antipolo, at least not that I know of. I’m not even sure whether there is a Taoist temple there. If there is then I’m not aware of it. My Guru Lama is not base there, and definitely he is alive and kicking. Well, maybe not kicking, but he can still walk unaided despite of his advance age. I was initially irritated and told my reader to tell the woman who called her to prove what she is saying, because she can’t and she won’t be able to prove it because it is simply not the truth. You see the source of my initial irritation is why would somebody create a rumor that my Guru Lama is dead or has died. He is not very young but he is very much alive. In fact, I just got to talk to him the morning my reader called me. Also, I really don’t know the purpose of why that woman would call her, and add to that I really don’t know the purpose of why my reader would call me to simply tell me something that is clearly not true. Obviously the woman who called my reader has spare time and with nothing to do she just decided to come up with stories. Whether she is a rumormongering woman, as a friend pointed out, or not I don’t know, but there are a lot of people who sometimes do things without thinking about it properly and they become source of negative energy for others who entertain and get affected by them. My reader, whatever her intentions are should have use her discretion, anyway, I was initially irritated because during the Hungry Ghost Month it is believed that negative thoughts sent to a person is doubled or is powerful and may come true. By saying that my Guru Lama is dead or has recently died sends a negative energy of death to my Guru Lama and this got me really irritated. But thanks to BM because I remembered what she told me, so I just decided to end the conversation and put the phone down. Nothing good will come out from the said conversation. Besides I should have realized that the negative energy they send out against my Guru Lama will be deflected by his strong positive energy he possess.

My ideal conversations are with BM and Angie because it always ends with me learning something from them. I just hope that they are learn something from me also.

I’m sharing this with you now because I also want you my readers to learn what I learned from BM. Get rid of negativities! Get rid of  the source of negative energy and life will surely become better. BM is a living proof of that.

Take Extra Precaution this Hungry Ghost Month of the 2016 Year of the Fire Monkey – Part 2!

Published Agosto 3, 2016 by jptan2012

Today is the start of the Hungry Ghost Month, and I’m sure most of you are aware that this is not a good thing. Hungry Ghost Month, which is the 7th month of the lunar calendar is considered as the worst month of the year. During this time, trading is down, and people avoid going on long trips and undergoing medical procedures. Chinese businessmen also avoid making big changes or making big business decisions during this month of the Hungry Ghost. I have written a lot about the Hungry Ghost Month and it would be good if you read about it if you want to understand more about it.

As mentioned, today is the first day of the ghost month this 2016. It’s peak is on the August 17, so from August 16 to 18 we all need to be careful. But while the hungry ghost month of 2016, unlike in 2014, is not really particularly strong, because of the configurations of the Flying Star the ghost month this year becomes particularly dreaded.

The other day I talked about the first part of what in store and what we should do this Hungry Ghost Month of 2016. As I said, while the Hungry Ghost Month this year is not particularly stronger, unlike that of the year 2014, we should still be a little wary because this year’s ruling star is the black star #2, which is also known as the Illness Star, a star that causes not only Illness but also Accidents.

However, there is more to it. This year’s Hungry Ghost Month also coincides with the fact that the monthly flying star brings to the center, thus making it the ruling star of the month, the most dreaded star of the Flying Star formula which is the #5 Flying Star or the Wu Wang or Five Yellow Star.

The Wu Wang is the most dreaded and is considered as the most dangerous of all stars. It causes different kinds of bad luck like financial problems, family and relationship problems, illness and accidents and a lot more. And as mentioned, this month it lands on the center, making it together with the Illness Star as the ruling star of the month. So aside from the Ox and Tiger, for this month all of us is affected by the effects of this star. This is really bad, and mind you, I don’t really want to sound like I’m a doomsayer but two black stars in the center and coupled with the Hungry Ghost Month, you need not be a Feng Shui expert to know that this is really bad. I’m sure all of you who are familiar with basic Feng Shui knows this to be a dreaded fact.

We all need to be very careful!! We already need to be careful during the Hungry Ghost Month, but coupled with these stars, we really need to be armed with some of the most powerful protection amulets or symbols.

The other day I wrote about the different cures for the Hungry Ghost Month. However, friends and other readers has been bugging as to what should they really wear this month.

If you wish to know more about the cures or amulets mentioned on this article like the Chung Kwei, Vajrapani Ruel, Surangama Mantra Amulet, and Illness Suppression Amulet, please see the links below and read about them by clicking on the particular article you want to read.

One of the most effective cure for the Ghost Month is still the image of Chung Kwei. Please read my post about him by clicking here to understand more about Chung Kwei. The two other powerful cures for the Ghost Month are the Vajrapani Ruel and Surangama Mantra Amulet. However, for people born under the year of the Ox or Tiger it is very important to have both the Chung Kwei and the Vajrapani Ruel or the Surangama Mantra Amulet. Why? This is because Ox and Tiger born people are already predisposed to the negative energies of the year. With the annual Wu Wang residing in the Northeast, and annual Illness Star being the years ruling star, coupled with the monthly Wu Wang being the monthly ruling star and the Hungry Ghost Month joining forces then it is a critical month for all of us but especially for people born under the sign of Ox and Tiger.

It is also very important to wear the Illness Suppression Amulet and the Five Element Pagoda gold pendant. For further protection wearing a Kalachakra pendant made of gold or jade is also very important.

People born under the year of the rat, dog, pig, horse and dragon, should make sure that they have either the Chung Kwei or the Surangama Mantra Amulet with the Five Element Pagoda gold pendant or Kalachakra gold pendant. This is because they are the ones more susceptible to the negative energies of the month.

Take Extra Precaution this Hungry Ghost Month of the 2016 Year of the Fire Monkey!

Published Agosto 1, 2016 by jptan2012

Every year, I write about the Hungry Ghost Month, because this is really one of the more important and dreaded festivals in the Chinese calendar. One of the worst Ghost Month we have seen was last 2014, last year was not so bad, but this year, we have to take precaution only because the ruling star of the year is a black star #2 Flying Star, which is also known as the Illness Star. Regular readers of this blog would already be familiar that the Illness Star is a star that causes not only illness but accidents also.

Technically speaking this year’s Hungry Ghost Month is not any stronger than usual, unlike what we had last 2014. However, base on the Flying Star Formula, the ruling star of the year is the black star #2 Flying Star, which as mentioned is the Illness Star (a star that causes both Illness and Accidents), this creates some trouble for all of us.

The effects of the Illness Star coupled with the already dreaded effects of the Hungry Ghost Month will make things worse. The Hungry Ghost Month will make the effects of the #2 Flying Star or Illness Star even stronger, so it is imperative that you wore your Illness Suppression Amulet or Medicine Buddha Prayer Wheel. However, the Illness Suppression Amulet has the added benefit of other consecrated power of other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. You can read it by reading the post called – ILLNESS SUPPRESSION AMULET: A MUST HAVE ANTI – ILLNESS AND ANTI – ACCIDENT AMULET FOR 2016 AND BEYOND!

But, of course, on top of that we still need to worry about the effects of the Dreaded Hungry Ghost Month. I have written so many articles about it, and all you have to do is click on the category KUWENTO NG HUNGRY GHOST MONTH or here to read through all the articles I have written about it.

To protect yourself from the Hungry Ghost Month, it is important that you wear your Chung Kwei. Chung Kwei is a Taoist God, which is regarded as the only effective protector for the ill effects of the Hungry Ghost Month. However, the Vajrapani Ruel and Kalachakra Pendant made of gold should also work also.

If you wish to know more about Chung Kwei you can read the following posts:

For those born in the year of the Ox and Tiger, and those whose office or bed room or door faces Northeast, you should also take extra careful, because the aside from the #2 Flying Star, you are also severely affected by the Wu Wang or the Five Yellow Star. This is one of the most dangerous star one can encounter, and with the Hungry Ghost Month, things are definitely not looking so well. Thus it is important for people born under the year of the Ox and Tiger and whose bedroom or office or door faces the Northeast to wear the Five Element Pagoda pendant made in gold, Chung Kwei, plus the Vajrapani Ruel or Kalachakra Pendant made in gold also or the Surangama Mantra Amulet. Of course, to help protect oneself from the Illness Star, you should also have the Illness Suppression Amulet.

Before I end this post, you should know that the Hungry Ghost Month this year runs for 30 days, and starts on August 3, 2016. It’s peak, which is the Hungry Ghost Festival is on the 17th, so the most dangerous time is on the eve of August 17, until August 18.

What to Do If You Absolutely Have to Had A Medical Procedure this Hungry Ghost Month?

Published Agosto 19, 2015 by jptan2012

medical procedureSometimes medical procedure is an avoidable happening. There are times that one can’t avoid a medical procedure because delaying it might cause more physical harm. So what does one have to do if there is an avoidable medical procedure that one has to go through this Hungry Ghost Month?

If it’s a minor medical procedure, you can light incense on your altar or go to a temple to do this and say a short prayer for all the Hungry Ghosts followed by a short prayer of protection. Make sure you have a Chung Kwei, a Vajrapani Ruel or a Surangama Mantra Amulet. Then while they’re doing the procedure, quietly chant either the Kalachakra Manta (OM AH HUM KSHAMALA VARAYA HUM PHAT) or the mantra of Vajrapani Bodhisattva (OM VAJRAPANI HUM). Just continue to chant it until the procedure is over.

This is a rare black jade pendant image of Chung Kwei. Was fortunate enough to find one in Beijing, China in a small shop. Remember in choosing a Chong Kwei or Chung Kwei or Zhung Kwei or Zhong Kwei, always get a something that's made of a black stone or gold. Otherwise, it might not be very effective.

For major medical procedure, I suggest go to a Buddhist temple and request them to do an Ullambana Ceremony (will discuss about this more on my succeeding posts), or request a Feng Shui practitioner who is familiar with the Ullambana Sutra to do it for you. Both will require some ‘fees’ because there are items that need to be bought for the said ceremony. The one done in a Buddhist temple is preferred but one that is done by a Buddhist Feng Shui practitioner will be effective as well, as long as he or she is familiar with the Ullambana Sutra and ceremony. Dedicate the ceremony to the ‘spiritual land lords’ of the hospital where the medical procedure is going to take place. On the day of the medical procedure, light some incense, and when you reach the hospital, discreetly scatter some rock salt or sea salt or pink Himalayan salt. Doctors or hospitals will not allow you to have any amulet on your body, so I suggest that you talk to your doctor beforehand and request that a Vajrapani Ruel or a Surangama Mantra Amulet be put at the door of the operating room, as the case may be. If you talk to them and tell them it is because of your religious belief that you are doing this, they will agree to do it. If not, ask a relative or a friend to carry it for you, and he should be as near as possible where the actual procedure is happening.Surangama Mantra

The Vajrapani Ruel looks simple, maybe even rustic, but this simple amulet is packed with a special talisman paper inside, with various ingredients, which includes Namtso Salt, soil, various herbs and plants, crystal, and a relic from a high lama. It's important to put the ruel inside a amulet holder or something sturdy as to not ruin it. If the cloth had tear which exposes or spill the ingredients inside, the ruel becomes useless.

Note that for this, I prefer that you use the Vajrapani Ruel or the Surangama Mantra Amulet, because both amulets provide a larger protective aura.

But again postpone any medical procedure this Hungry Ghost Month if you can.
