A few days ago, BM, a reader and a friend from Davao, who regular readers of this blog would be familiar by this time, asked me about this year’s Hungry Ghost Month. She wants to know whether it is going to be particularly bad. If you look at the relation of the coming of the Hungry Ghost Month with the flying star of August and September, the effects should not be very bad, and so I told her that this year’s Hungry Ghost Month although we should still be very careful is not in any way particularly stronger unless you are born in the year of the Horse, Snake or Sheep.
However, when I said this I was really busy and haven’t really taken the time out to look at formation of the stars thoroughly, and so I was greatly surprised that during one of my business meetings, one of my clients who knows that I’m a Feng Shui writer asked me about the effects of the lunar eclipse. I was surprised because of my busy schedule I didn’t even realized that we just had a lunar eclipse, albeit a partial one. But of course this had me worried already, because every lunar eclipse is definitely followed by solar eclipse, and when I checked I found out that it would be a total solar eclipse!
Now whether we see the solar eclipse here in Asia or not is irrelevant because the effects is definitely worldwide.
I have written in previous articles that an eclipse is almost always a bad omen. This is whether the eclipse is solar or lunar. For this year’s solar eclipse, what makes it dreadful is that it happens on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Month, and I have never ever recalled than an eclipse happening on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Month, and this is most certainly an indication that something big either worldwide or to several countries will happen during the Hungry Ghost Month or will start during the Hungry Ghost Month.
In my annual forecast, I said something might happen on the 3rd quarter of this year, and this full solar eclipse on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Month seems to have validated this forecast, and so all of us have to be careful and take extra precaution. It will also greatly help if we can include in our prayers or dedication of merits our countries, the welfare of this world, and also the leaders of this world and of our countries.
On a personal level, it is best to stay indoor during the actual eclipse, and is also highly advisable to wear the Kalachakra Pendant, or carry the Vajrapani Ruel with a Chung Kwei. This is because this phenomenon also has the power wreak some bad luck in our lives. Financial problems might occur especially to those who are in the midst of big transition, or worst health or safety issues might arise especially to those who whose job or lifestyle is already putting them at risk more than a normal person is and definitely those who are already sick.
Regular readers of this blog knows that I hate being a messenger of doom, but this is something that we really need to face and be ready for. And as I always say, the reason we know these things in advance because we can do something about it.
TO UNDERSTAND MORE ABOUT THE HUNGRY GHOST MONTH, HUNGRY GHOSTS, IT’S EFFECTS, RITUALS AND PROTECTION READ THE FOLLOWING HUNGRY GHOSTS SERIES:
On July 10, 1856 a pregnant woman went into labor. While delivering her baby around midnight, there was a strong lightning storm. Thus while delivering the child, the midwife got pretty scared, and when everything has settled, the midwife told the new mother that her son is a child of darkness. It was said that the mother got scared for she knew about the belief that lightning storm are a sign of bad omen and/or that it shows that the child is a child of evil. Which is another pervading belief in some Eastern European countries.
The child is Nikola Tesla, a Serbian scientist who later became an American. He worked for Thomas Edison, and while he is not as famous as Thomas Edison, his discovery and invention of the modern Alternating Current (AC) electrical supply has greatly impacted on how we use electricity these days.
Nikola Tesla is the living proof that Lightning Storms are not bad omen. In fact, regular readers of this blog, especially those who have the world’s most powerful amulet in the Buddhist pantheon, the Vajrapani Ruel, would know that Bodhisattva Vajrapani is of the Vajra lineage and He has the power of the lightning and thunder.
Having said this, contrary to the popular belief that lightning storm is a bad omen, if we only tap into it’s power, lightning storm can help change bad luck to good luck.
Some of you might remember that I have written about the power of lightning. If not you can read the posts:
I think it is an international belief that when a picture falls off or if a picture frame breaks, its usually taken as a sign of a bad omen that something bad will happen to the person on the picture. So much so that it usually uses as a minor plot on movies and TV dramas to heightened the drama that something bad is about to happen.
This is both a myth but at the same time, it’s not. Let me explain myself.
Pictures are our extension, so there is some truth that part of our soul is captured once our picture is taken. But of course, it’s not the soul that is being captured but the photo becomes an extension of our chi or life force. This happens without our life force or chi being diminished, and the chi on the picture is so small that some Feng Shui experts and Taoist priest still debates whether it is of any significance.
Personally, I think it is of some significance, but not significant enough to make us paranoid every time we had our picture taken.
Anyway, going back to the topic, if your picture fell from the wall or if your picture frame breaks does that mean that something bad is about to happen.
I think it means that something bad is bound to happen, however, photos being an extension of yourself, might have absorbed it already that you need not be afraid, it means it has been prevented already. However, in some rare instances, if what is about to happen is really something big or something really terrible then maybe something will still happen but whatever it is it definitely has been diminished because your photo has absorbed some of it.
But how do we know whether something will still happen or not? It’s hard to say, so as a safety precaution, one can light some incense, chant a mantra, or make a donation in a temple or church, or wear amulets like the Vajrapani Ruel or wear images of the Buddhas or Bodhisattvas.

Today, allow me to introduce you to one of the most unusual powerful symbol to enhance your wealth luck, which is the image of a bat with a coin. I say unusual because for a lot of people a bat is a scary thing, Westerners usually depicts a bat as sign of bad omen and in movies or books, a bat is usually said to a vampire in disguise.
However, as mentioned in one of my previous post – MYTH BUSTER 4: BATS BRINGS BAD LUCK, bats are actually a sign that good fortune is about to come your way. In fact, it is a powerful Feng Shui tip to enhance wealth luck.
For those who want to gain great financial or wealth luck, it is highly recommended that you tap into the power of a bat with a coin. While a symbol of a bat in general generates good fortune or luck, if the bat carries with it a coin, it becomes more focused on what kind of luck it will generate. It will become focus on giving a person good wealth luck.
I’m not sharing this on simple theoretical point of view. I have a friend who actually credits his good financial luck to the bat with coin pendant that I gave him about a year ago.
I’ve known JO for quite sometime now, but because he is a born again Christian, he never really believed in Feng Shui. However, when he encountered a big problem with his business and was in danger of losing everything that he has worked for, he was forced to ask me what to do. I initially suggested the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT, but his religious beliefs prevented him for getting one. He said he couldn’t wear anything that has an image of a Buddha. He said he’ll be ostracized from his church and they’ll call him a backslider. I then suggested that he try a wearing a pendant that has an image of a bat and a coin. I looked into my collection and found one that’s made of lapis lazuli, which is a blue stone. Gave it to him and he wore it. If people ask him he just says that it’s a pendant given to him by his mom who got it in China. The design is very Chinese anyway.
The ‘Bat with Coin’ pendant I gave my friend mentioned in this post is very similar to this one.
According to JO, little by little he noticed that his problems left him and that in a year’s time not only was he able to survive, but more than that, he now has paid off all his debts, wherein the initial projection if everything goes well, it’ll take him 4 years to pay off all his debts. But in a year’s time he was able to pay off all his debts and is now saving money to do a little expansion.
So next time you badly need financial luck enhancement, try to get a pendant that has an image of a bat with a coin. It is better if the pendant is made of lapis lazuli or sodalite or any other blue stone because blue in Feng Shui symbolizes money or wealth. This will actually make the pendant more potent.
Yesterday, I talked about the different celestial messages that indicate good luck. Now if the universe gives us messages to inform us of possible good luck, they also sent messages to us to indicate possible bad luck that may come our way. Some of the most common bad luck omens are the following…
A light that flickers ‘on and off’ is usually a sign that something bad may happen. We often see these in films but unlike most things portrayed in the film, there’s a lot of truth here. In the olden times these usually happens with candles and/or lamps and may still happen in your altar lights, but any other ordinary household lights that flickers is also an indication of a bad luck.
A dish breaks while you’re using it is also a great indication of a bad omen.
While on the road and thinking of a project and you encounter a roadblock, this usually means that there’s going to be a problem or a delay. I personally experienced this omen. One time I was trying to collect from a client who usually pays on time. I was in the car when I called up the person-in-charge and while talking to her I encountered a roadblock, I knew then that there’s going to be a problem in the payment. True enough because of a new policy of their office, there’s going to be a delay in the payment, and it took another two months before they were able to pay me. The road block may come as a real physical road block or you may be browsing a magazine/newspaper or surfing the net while thinking or discussing the matter with somebody and you encounter a picture of a road block. That would be an omen already.
A bursting pipe usually indicates bad luck for the whole family.
Coming across a fallen tree that blocks your way is an indication of a bad luck also. A fallen tree blocked a friend who was on his way to a meeting, which is held at the construction site of his housing project. He was with his mom at that time, which he was dropping off at the grocery. His mom told him to just cancel the meeting because the fallen tree gave her an uneasy feeling, however, he said he’s not superstitious and needs to proceed to the meeting. When he got to the meeting, he had an accident and was bedridden for about a month. Not all bad lucks are as obvious as this; sometimes it can happen in other ways, like losing a contract or a project, or losing some money.
I wrote before that encountering a funeral is actually not a sign of bad luck, however, if you happen to see an accident that involves a dying or a dead person it usually means something bad is also about to come your way.
Also, yesterday I wrote about coming across a person who carries religious items usually indicates good luck. But if the said person were carrying a cross then that would mean that you would soon have to carry a burden.
Lastly, and not to put a stigma on disabled person, but on your way to a big meeting or a project and you encounter a severely disabled person who is not on a wheelchair would usually mean that the project is going to be problematic.
These are just some of the possible omens, you might encounter some other omens or celestial message, and we do encounter them everyday, you just need to be more conscious about the fact that everyday the universe tries to communicate with us.
There’s a Filipino belief that coming across a snake is an extremely bad omen, it is often associated with evil. Some Filipinos, especially those from the province believe that a snake may be a devil in ‘disguise’.
However, the truth is coming across or accidentally meeting a snake is a sign of good luck. If somebody is sick in the family, it would indicate that the person is about to get well. It can also mean that a change for the better is also about to happen.
If you see a snake in your house or on your garden, it means that an important person who is about to change your life or your family’s life for the better is about to arrive in the next few months.
I know that a snake can be very scary because it is poisonous. However, if you come across a poisonous snake that would only mean the luck is more significant rather than coming across than a non-poisonous snake.
