Hungry Ghost Month: A Quick Review and A Special Instruction for 2017!

Published Agosto 2, 2017 by jptan2012

This is just a quick post to remind you that the Hungry Ghost Month this 2017 is happening on August 22, 2017 to September 19, 2017. The eve of the Hungry Ghost Festival is on Sept. 4 and Hungry Ghost Festival or Hungry Ghost Day is Sept. 5.

The Hungry Ghost Festival is also known as the Zhong Yuan Festival in Taoism and Yu Lan Pen Festival in Buddhism. This is the day we pay respects to the deceased by making some offerings. This is also the day where you can do the Ullambana Ritual, which I introduced to my readers last year.

It is said that all ghost, especially the hungry ghosts, will come out of hell during the Hungry Ghost Month, and it is said that they are strongest on the eve and on the festival day itself. The festival day always happens on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month. This is why the 15th day of the 7th lunar month is called Hungry Ghost Day and the 7th lunar month is called Hungry Ghost Month.

The Chinese, especially the older generation have the custom of making offerings to their dead relatives and to their ancestors, but also to all hungry ghosts. The Hungry Ghost Festival is considered as one of the most important date in the Chinese tradition.

As mentioned the Chinese believes that during the Hungry Ghost Month (sometimes simply called Ghost Month), the gates of hell will open to allow the hungry ghosts to go back to our world. During this time, they will roam around our world to eat with us. Because of this they also bring about a lot of negative energies and may cause bad luck and illness and accidents.

To help ease the sufferings of the hungry ghosts, and to avoid causing bad luck to us, the Chinese usually perform ceremonies on the eve of the hungry ghost day, but a lot of Chinese, also make offerings all throughout the hungry ghost month. They will set altars for them and chant mantras or recite sutras that will help give merit to the hungry ghosts. . Monks often throw rice or some small foods into the air to distribute them to the ghosts.

On the evening of the Ghost day, people also make lanterns and float them on the river to help their relatives find their way back to home. The lanterns are usually lotus flower-shaped with light or candles. Some people also write their ancestors’ name on the lanterns.

I have written extensively about the Hungry Ghost Month and the Hungry Ghost Festival. If you are not yet familiar with them, I suggest that you check on the link below and read them to know how you can stay safe.

But at this point, allow me to share with you that for this year’s ghost month, while there is nothing extra significant other than what has been mentioned already, people born in the years of the Snake, Horse, and Sheep should take extra precaution because these three signs are already afflicted or side afflicted by the stronger than usual Five Yellow Star or Wu Wang (#5 Flying Star). As a result, they have to be extra careful with their business or financial dealings because money loss is definitely a serious threat during the hungry ghost month. Furthermore, people born under the sign of the Horse and Sheep ( who is also directly affected by the #7 Star of Violence) should take extra care about their safety. Accidents or crime may happen. It is very important the Horse, Sheep, or Snake should have the Vajrapani Ruel and the Ullambana Amulet, which will be sent to me by my Guru Lama in the next few days.

Before I share with you all the other posts that I’ve written about the Hungry Ghost Month, I just would like to remind everybody that it is very important that you should all make sure, whether you are born under the sign of the Sheep, Horse, or Snake, to protect yourself. There is no such thing as over protection.

Take Extra Precaution this Hungry Ghost Month of the 2016 Year of the Fire Monkey – Part 2!

Published Agosto 3, 2016 by jptan2012

Today is the start of the Hungry Ghost Month, and I’m sure most of you are aware that this is not a good thing. Hungry Ghost Month, which is the 7th month of the lunar calendar is considered as the worst month of the year. During this time, trading is down, and people avoid going on long trips and undergoing medical procedures. Chinese businessmen also avoid making big changes or making big business decisions during this month of the Hungry Ghost. I have written a lot about the Hungry Ghost Month and it would be good if you read about it if you want to understand more about it.

As mentioned, today is the first day of the ghost month this 2016. It’s peak is on the August 17, so from August 16 to 18 we all need to be careful. But while the hungry ghost month of 2016, unlike in 2014, is not really particularly strong, because of the configurations of the Flying Star the ghost month this year becomes particularly dreaded.

The other day I talked about the first part of what in store and what we should do this Hungry Ghost Month of 2016. As I said, while the Hungry Ghost Month this year is not particularly stronger, unlike that of the year 2014, we should still be a little wary because this year’s ruling star is the black star #2, which is also known as the Illness Star, a star that causes not only Illness but also Accidents.

However, there is more to it. This year’s Hungry Ghost Month also coincides with the fact that the monthly flying star brings to the center, thus making it the ruling star of the month, the most dreaded star of the Flying Star formula which is the #5 Flying Star or the Wu Wang or Five Yellow Star.

The Wu Wang is the most dreaded and is considered as the most dangerous of all stars. It causes different kinds of bad luck like financial problems, family and relationship problems, illness and accidents and a lot more. And as mentioned, this month it lands on the center, making it together with the Illness Star as the ruling star of the month. So aside from the Ox and Tiger, for this month all of us is affected by the effects of this star. This is really bad, and mind you, I don’t really want to sound like I’m a doomsayer but two black stars in the center and coupled with the Hungry Ghost Month, you need not be a Feng Shui expert to know that this is really bad. I’m sure all of you who are familiar with basic Feng Shui knows this to be a dreaded fact.

We all need to be very careful!! We already need to be careful during the Hungry Ghost Month, but coupled with these stars, we really need to be armed with some of the most powerful protection amulets or symbols.

The other day I wrote about the different cures for the Hungry Ghost Month. However, friends and other readers has been bugging as to what should they really wear this month.

If you wish to know more about the cures or amulets mentioned on this article like the Chung Kwei, Vajrapani Ruel, Surangama Mantra Amulet, and Illness Suppression Amulet, please see the links below and read about them by clicking on the particular article you want to read.

One of the most effective cure for the Ghost Month is still the image of Chung Kwei. Please read my post about him by clicking here to understand more about Chung Kwei. The two other powerful cures for the Ghost Month are the Vajrapani Ruel and Surangama Mantra Amulet. However, for people born under the year of the Ox or Tiger it is very important to have both the Chung Kwei and the Vajrapani Ruel or the Surangama Mantra Amulet. Why? This is because Ox and Tiger born people are already predisposed to the negative energies of the year. With the annual Wu Wang residing in the Northeast, and annual Illness Star being the years ruling star, coupled with the monthly Wu Wang being the monthly ruling star and the Hungry Ghost Month joining forces then it is a critical month for all of us but especially for people born under the sign of Ox and Tiger.

It is also very important to wear the Illness Suppression Amulet and the Five Element Pagoda gold pendant. For further protection wearing a Kalachakra pendant made of gold or jade is also very important.

People born under the year of the rat, dog, pig, horse and dragon, should make sure that they have either the Chung Kwei or the Surangama Mantra Amulet with the Five Element Pagoda gold pendant or Kalachakra gold pendant. This is because they are the ones more susceptible to the negative energies of the month.

A Mother ‘Gambled’ on the ‘Wish Fulfilling and Buddha’s Blessing Mantra Pendant’ for Her Son – Another Personal Testimony of a Reader

Published Agosto 26, 2013 by jptan2012

I love to post stories that I received either thru conversations, comments or emails, about how the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT gives so much blessings to SOME of the people who has requested for it. Here again is another story. But, unlike the previous stories, I honestly think that here it is the mother’s love that made the pendant really effective.

A Mother's Love is a powerful tool to negative energies. It may also act a booster for a Feng Shui cure.

A Mother’s Love is a powerful tool to negative energies. It may also act a booster for a Feng Shui cure.

Late last year, I received an email from DT. DT is a mother of 6 children, all of which are successful professionals except for one. According to the email that I read, it was supposedly to have been the 7th email sent to me by DT with the assistance of her ‘yaya’.

DT is already 72 years old and is not familiar on how to use the computer. So she would ask her ‘yaya’ to email me. In fact, it was her ‘yaya’ who showed her my blog.

DT said that she’s almost satisfied with her life. However, her youngest child, K, is the only one who’s preventing DT from being truly happy. According to her, K has always been a problem child. When he was younger, he got involved with drugs, had a love child, (who is now 13 years old), and was the only one who is disrespectful amongst all her children. Nevertheless, now that he’s on his 30’s, DT said K is now a changed man. He is now more responsible and is trying to create a career for himself. However, what’s bothering DT is that K seems to be attracting a lot negative energies because nothing that he does seems to succeed. DT wants to know whether it is karmic because of all the bad things that he has done in the past.

Since I no longer accept BAZI reading, I was unable to check whether it is karmic. However, DT said she wants to get the WISH FULFILLING AND BUDDHA’S BLESSING MANTRA PENDANT for K. DT also clarified that since she’s no longer working and just live thru the kindness of her other children getting the pendant is like a gambling for her because admittedly the pendant is quite pricey. But she really wants to help her son because she’s afraid that if he continues to fail he might go back to his old ways.

When I gave it to DT, I instructed her that she should just wear it first for 9 days, everyday chant 7 full malas of the mantra of Medicine Buddha, the WISH FULFILLING MANTRA and the NEGATIVE KARMA CLEANSING MANTRA. After she has done it only then she should give the pendant to K. I ask her to do this because K is not a believer, and although I believe that the pendant will still work for K even if he doesn’t believe in it, imbibing the pendant with the energy or power of mother’s love will help hasten things.

About 10 months after, DT called me up to tell me that K seems to be on his way to being successful. He found a job 2 months after he started wearing the pendant, and has been immediately promoted since then. On top of that, K is now able to give allowance to his son, and the mother of his son has since then allowed their son to stay with K and DT on weekends.

Furthermore, has part of K’s promotion package, he was given a brand new car of their company and he was able to get a financing assistance for a condominium!

In this case, I truly believe that it was the mother’s love that worked more than the pendant!

The Dreaded Hungry Ghost Month

Published Hulyo 17, 2012 by jptan2012

One of the most famous Chinese festivals, other than Chinese New Year and Moon Cake Festival, is the Hungry Ghost Festival, which also happens to be one of the most dreaded festival and month of the Chinese.

The Hungry Ghost Festival happens on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, however, unlike the other festivals, like the Chinese New Year wherein the changing of the Flying Stars happens on a specified time and date, the preparation and effect of the Hungry Ghost Month, as the term indicates, lasts for a month. It actually starts on the first day of the 7th lunar month, peaks on the 15th day, which is the Hungry Ghost Festival, and ends on the last day of the 7th lunar month.

Every year, if you follow the Gregorian/Western calendar, the Hungry Ghost Month lands on different dates. Sometimes, it starts in July and ends in August, or starts in August and ends in September. But it always cuts across August of the Gregorian calendar. For this year (2012), the Hungry Ghost Month starts on August 17 and ends on September 15. The peak is on August 30, 2012, which is the date of the Hungry Ghost Festival.

But what is the Hungry Ghost Festival or Hungry Ghost Month?

Hungry Ghost Month is actually simply called Ghost Month (鬼月, Guǐ Yuè) in Chinese, the word Hungry is added in the words Ghost Months to clarify the nature of the ghosts that best characterized this season…they’re HUNGRY!

During this month, it is believed that the King of Hell opens the gate of hell to release and allow the spirits in hell or ghosts to be free and roam our world. It is believed that the hungry ghosts will visit families and other humans, thus it is said that there’d be more paranormal and ghostly manifestation during this month. Furthermore, hungry ghosts will also look for victims that they can bring with them to hell, and thus there’d be more accidents, more than that because of the strong yin and negative energy of this season, business becomes bad and it is highly advisable that one shouldn’t sign any contract, move to a new house, get operated on during the entire Hungry Ghost Month.

Why are they considered hungry?

Buddhism and Taoism both have a slightly different version of the Hungry Ghost. For Buddhism, Hungry Ghost is in one of the Six Realms of Existence, and they are simply a form of existence. However, for Taoism, Hungry Ghosts are (1) spirits of people who have not yet gone through a reincarnation and are largely forgotten by their descendants, (2) spirits of really bad people and they’re currently being punished, (3) spirits of really sad people who died of a violent death or suicide, (4) lost spirits who harbored so much yin energy or yin feelings while they were sill living.

They’re hungry because they are unable to get food from their living love ones because their violent or yin dominant death has blocked their connection with their loved ones, they don’t have any love ones on earth, or simply they have been forgotten. It is said that a deceased love one will have connection with us for a few more years, and depending on how we treat their spirits they may enter the samsara (cycle of life) immediately or go to hell as an hungry ghost. It is also said that ghost still needs sustenance in the other existence, and they get it from us in the form of offerings. These people not receiving any are then thrown into the pit of hell and become hungry ghosts.

Since most of these ghosts lived a negative life or died a violent death, many of them still harbor ill feelings towards their fate, so when they’re released they also try to do us harm. Thus all of us need to be extra careful.
