Myth Buster 40: The Ashes of a Black Cat Will Enable You to See & Fight Demons!

Published Mayo 18, 2016 by jptan2012

black catIt’s been quite some time since I wrote about an article under the MYTH BUSTER category. But today, allow me share a pervasive myth amongst the local of Siquijor (a province in the Philippines known for witchcraft and stories of Manananggal or local vampires). In a trip to Siquijor a few months back, some people told me that I will never see a pure black cat in Siquijor because the albularyos (local shamans) hunts the black cat, kill them, then burn it and use the ash in looking for demons and fighting them. I was quite surprised and told my guide to hook me up with an albularyo who practices this because I would surely love to understand more about this practice.

Some of my friends who are with me warned me not to talk to the albularyos because I might get hexed or bewitched. I was pretty confident that it wouldn’t happen because I have my Kalachakra Pendant and more importantly I have my Vajrapani Ruel and Surangama Mantra Amulet.

I was lucky enough to meet two elderly albularyos who absolutely forbid me to take their photo because they believe that their soul might be captured by the camera or photo (I will discuss this in succeeding posts). Anyway, they told me that this is a known way to best see and fight a demon, but it is a practice that is quite difficult to do. At the end, they said that they have tried it, however, they don’t know the actual ritual thus are unable to do it.

I got really curious about this practice and decided to do more research about it. I found out that ancient Hebrews also believes in this practice. Now the question is there truth to this?

The variables present as was shared with me are they only need of the ashes of black cat and some prayer. If I’m going to base it on this alone, I think this is more of a myth. Why? Because an ash has no chi. It is literally without energy thus it can be used into a spiritual object or amulet. In fact, Buddhist prefers to be cremated because in that case they won’t have to worry as to where to put the ash. Once a person has been cremated, one will not need to worry about the Feng Shui of the burial site because the ashes have no chi.

The Vajrapani Ruel Stories (5): In the Nick of Time and Money Problems Solved with the Help of the ‘Hated’ Gift

Published Pebrero 13, 2015 by jptan2012

money-problemsToday, I would like to share with you two different Vajrapani Ruel stories or personal testimonies of readers who have acquired the Vajrapani Ruel. There are two different stories, and one was just shared with me earlier by a reader turned friend.

For regular readers of this blog, you would know how rare and precious a Vajrapani Ruel is, given that it was last made 40 – 50 years ago. That’s a generation ago!!! I know that the Vajrapani Ruel is one of the most powerful ‘amulet’ in Buddhism for it is made of 70 to 90 different ingredients that includes precious first class Buddhist relics. But even then I’m still a little surprised as to how fast the testimonies started pouring in, like EL’s and JS’s stories both of which I have shared here on my blog.

Reader turned friend GS was one of the few people who got the Vajrapani Ruel even before I wrote about it. Unlike JS and EL she doesn’t have a spectacular story to share but she believes that the Vajrapani Ruel that she acquired solved a lot of the small nuances that she normally experience in her daily life.

The Vajrapani Ruel looks simple, maybe even rustic, but this simple amulet is packed with a special talisman paper inside, with various ingredients, which includes Namtso Salt, soil, various herbs and plants, crystal, and a relic from a high lama. It's important to put the ruel inside a amulet holder or something sturdy as to not ruin it. If the cloth had tear which exposes or spill the ingredients inside, the ruel becomes useless.

It’s important to put the ruel inside a amulet holder or something sturdy as to not ruin it. If the cloth had tear which exposes or spill the ingredients inside, the ruel becomes useless.

Today, she shared with me again another Vajrapani Ruel story that although may seem petty, she believes exhibits the wonderful power of the Vajrapani Ruel. I’ll start off with her story before sharing MC’s story, which is short of miraculous in solving his money problems.

GS has a meeting in Quezon City and she also has a flight to catch. Her meeting in QC was with her biggest client so she was unable to cancel it, despite of the terrible traffic that we experienced in the Metro today. Her flight was at around 6:30PM but her meeting finished at around 4:15PM, and considering that she was supposed to be at the airport 3 hours before her flight she knew that there was not much hope. In fact, her assistant told her to just rebooked her flight. But she decided to hold the Vajrapani Ruel on her palm while driving and she got to the airport at 6PM! Just before the check – in counter closed. Everybody who lives in Metro Manila knows that for a Friday, payday, Valentine’s weekend, and on rush hour, this is quite an impossible feat! But she made it and she said it was because of the Vajrapani Ruel. In fact, she called me as was I planning to write about MC’s story.

If GS’s story is quite simple, MC’s story is short of being miraculous. MC was one of the few people who got the Vajrapani Ruel right after I wrote about it. A few days ago, MC called me to share with me her personal testimony about it.

MC is 26 years – old fourth child of a brood of six. MC has been requesting for the Wish Fulfilling and Buddha’s Blessing Mantra Pendant but because of production delays, I advised him not to get it. When he read about the Vajrapani Ruel he decided to get it instead.

As it turns out, he bought it for his sister who was left by her husband and was experiencing so many financial problems. According to MC, PY her sister is the best sister anyone can request for, because she helped their parents send the other siblings to school. So when MC found out that PY has been having financial problems because she is single handedly sending her 3 kids to school and rearing them up, he and his other siblings have been helping out heir eldest sister who have been really nice towards them.

However, like other financial problems, the bills and the problems seem to just keep on piling up. MC desperately wants to help PY and he cannot think of any other way but to help create good opportunity for her. As mentioned he initially decided to get the Wish Fulfilling and Buddha’s Blessing Mantra Pendant, but in the end settled for the Vajrapani Ruel.

MC gave the Vajrapani Ruel as gift to his eldest sister, PY. PY didn’t hide the fact that she hated the gift especially she felt that they could have used simply used the money for something more practical. But to simply amuse MC she decided to carry it anyway. That was several weeks ago.

Just recently, MC called me up to share with me that they totally believe, and by they he refers to his family and even PY, that the Vajrapani Ruel did worked for his sister. According to MC, her sister PY just recently got promoted and bypassed 2 levels up, so the additional pay is very significant. But more than that, PY was informed by the parents of her ex – husband, that they just recently found out that their son has not been supporting his children, and that they would like to help and they in fact has sort of disowned their son.

It has to be noted that PY has maintained good relationship with her parents – in – law despite of her relationship with their son getting really sour. This is because her ex – husband’s parents, according to MC, has always been fair and really nice towards MC.

My Weight Loss Chicken Stew

Published Agosto 9, 2012 by jptan2012

Trying to lose weight is really one of the hardest things that I’m trying to do in my life. I think it becomes harder because my metabolism is really slow, I love to eat, and I was born fat and has never been really thin my whole life. On top of that, after losing 40 pounds, my body has adjusted to the exercise routine that I have been doing thus I need to push myself further.

Losing weight entails a lot of discipline and self – control, and one of the easiest ways for me is really to take control of what I eat. I need to decide and plan what I eat everyday, it cannot be ‘grab anything when hungry’ type of plan, I really have to plan and think about it.

Taking control and planning also entails that I cook my own food, because my family loves to eat those unhealthy food.

It is because of this that I came across the blog of Ann Curtis’ boyfriend who said that he used to be fat. On his blog he shared a recipe, which I adopted and revised a little base on my taste.

I would like to share this with you now, well, if you like me needs to lose weight.

I’m calling the dish the Weight Loss Chicken Stew…I really don’t know whether I can call it Chicken Stew, but since I don’t know how it is called, I decided to call it as such.

I don’t want to sound ‘mayabang’ or boastful but I honestly think that this is a good, delicious, and healthy dish.

I say healthy because a lot of the ingredients in the dish are what you call negative calorie food. If you want to know more about negative calorie food please read my previous blog about it by clicking here.

Going back to the Weight Loss Chicken Stew…

The ingredients are the following: Celery, carrots, bell pepper, chicken breast fillet (cut into small cubes), chorizo (this is the only unhealthy ingredient of the dish, so don’t put too many of it), onions, chicken stock, paprika, pepper, chick peas (garbanzos).

First, in a pot put a little oil and sauté the onions and chorizo.

Wait until the chorizo has ‘sweat’ a little, put in the celery, carrots, and bell pepper.

Make sure that you stir it so that the ingredients will mix.

After about 2 minutes you can put some chicken stock or for more flavor you can replace this with spaghetti sauce.

Cover the pot for about 5 minutes then put in the chicken, and a generous amount of paprika. Make sure you stir them together.

About 7 minutes, put in the pepper and chickpeas. Again stir the ingredients together.

Cook for 5 more minutes and it’s done! You can put some fresh basil if you want it adds a lot of flavor to the dish.

You notice that I didn’t put in any salt or sugar, because the chicken stock or spaghetti sauce and paprika and pepper will gives flavor to the dish, not to mention the chicken breast, chorizo, and the vegetables contributes to making the dish really flavorful.

Also, notice I didn’t put any measurements as to how much celery you should put, etc. That is because I always ‘play it by ear’. I just make sure that the vegetables are the ¾ part of the dish, the chicken, chick stock, etc, only consists ¼ part of the dish. The chorizo although it adds flavor to the dish should be negligible.

Try it and hope you enjoy the dish. But what I can assure you that it’s heavy on the stomach, but the calories shouldn’t be that high, plus all the vegetables in the dish are negative caloric vegetables so it should not put on too much calories on your body.

I know it doesn’t look very appetizing, and I blame bad lighting and the phone camera phone! Hehehe! But try it. It’s flavorful and healthy.

Negative Calorie Food

Published Hunyo 29, 2012 by jptan2012

People who know me personally know that I’m currently trying to lose weight. After losing about 40 pounds in a year’s time, I now find it hard to shed the rest of the weight that I need to lose, especially; my metabolism is sort of slow. The fight against the bulge is a constant battle, and one needs to come up with different ways of fight the bulge because our body get used to what we eat and do and sort of creates a certain ‘relax’ mode that makes the fight a little slower.

In my new quest to lose weight, I found out that there is such a thing as a negative calorie food; basically, these are foods that have a low calorie index and will take out more calories for us to digest them. Scientists are divided with regards to this belief, some say it’s impossible and say its true. However, if you look at the arguments of both sides, regardless whether ‘negative calorie’ theory is true or not, one thing is certain, these are foods that has low calorie index. Meaning, you may eat a lot and there’s a low chance that you’ll get fat from a ‘negative calorie’ food. Furthermore, most of these foods included in the list of ‘negative calorie foods’ are high in fiber and will tend to make us feel full longer. A lot of them are also high in nutrients.

Allow me to share the top fifteen ‘negative calorie’ foods.

CELERY. This is the best of all negative calorie foods because it is high in fiber and essential nutrients. Plus, you need to eat about 1.5 kilos of celery before you get 200 calories out of it, so it’s really a low calorie food.

ORANGES. Is another negative calorie food. Furthermore, it’s high in vitamin C.

STRAWBERRY. Another fruit on the list is the beautiful and very delicious strawberry, this is one of my favorite fruits. However, strawberries are considered one of the ‘dirtiest’ fruit in terms of the amount of pesticide it gets before it reaches us. Here in the Philippines, it is almost if not totally impossible to get organic strawberries.

KIWI. A fruit that I also really love is kiwi and I’m lucky enough for it to be included in the negative calorie list. On top of that, a kiwi has one of the highest amount of vitamin C.

GRAPEFRUIT. I never really liked grapefruit, but I’ll try to eat more of this fruit because other than being a negative calorie fruit it’s also high in essential nutrients and anti-oxidants.

CARROTS. Need I say more? We all know the benefits of eating a carrot, we’ve been told about this by our parents and teachers.

APRICOT. They look like peaches but not as delicious, at least, for me. However, here in the Philippines, it is very rare that we have fresh apricots, and take note, dried ones are not as good.

LETTUCE. I really don’t know whether we can cook a lettuce or what’s the best way of cooking it. However, it’s one of the most common vegetable you’ll find in a salad. But again be careful with the kind of dressing that you use. It’s just sad that my favorite vegetable Arugula is not in the list of top fifteen negative calorie foods.

TOMATOES. What’s so nice about tomatoes is that one can eat it raw, but they say if you want to benefit from lycopene you must cook it. By the way, a tomato is a fruit and not a vegetable.

CUCUMBER. A cucumber has a very high water content, therefore it will easily make you feel full.

WATERMELON. I love a really cold watermelon, but they say it has no nutritional content.

CAULIFLOWERS. One of the best way of eating a cauliflower is simply to blanch it and then dip it in a non-fat salad dressing.

APPLE. Even before I found out that an apple is a negative calorie food, I’ve started eating it whenever I’m craving for food. I believe that it has help me in my weight loss. However, apples are also one of the dirtiest fruits in terms of pesticide use on them. In fact, the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away is no longer true.

ZUCCHINI. Not my favorite.

HOT CHILI PEPPER. Okay, I don’t know why this is in the list, it’s not like we eat like we eat the other foods in the list. However, aside from being a negative calorie food, a chili also has a certain property that aids in weight loss.

Also add in the list are most green leafy vegetables, however, it should be noted that some say for them to be truly negative calorie they should be eaten raw. It’s not a problem with the fruits, but with some of the vegetables, eating them raw tends to make it bland, so be careful with the dressing if you’re making a salad out of it. Nevertheless, some say they’re negative calorie regardless whether they are raw or cooked, but you have to be careful with the other ingredients if you decided to cook them, because they will add calorie to the negative calorie food.
