Chant – A – Mantra (3d): Daily Mantras to Chant – Health, Wealth, Liberty from Negativities!

Published Hulyo 14, 2016 by jptan2012

Yes! I chant a lot of mantras everyday. And while at first it might seem quite tedious once you get the hang of it, it will be quite easy to chant even if there are a lot of mantras to chant. But don’t get me wrong, when I say quite easy it will still take you some time, and it is perfectly worth it to invest some time everyday because the blessings that we receive simply by chanting mantras is quite enormous. It is more powerful when one chants it under deep meditation, at a level where you are almost unaware of your surroundings. However, needless to say, mantras are powerful and depending on your faith simply uttering it a few times is bound to give you some blessings. How much more if you chant it 108x everyday!

Aside from the mantras of the 3 Main Buddhas (Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Medicine Buddha) and the 4 Main Bodhisattvas (Bodhisattva Kuan Yin, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, and Bodhisattva Majushri) and the Protector, Business and Career, Wealth Bodhisattvas (Bodhisattva Sangharama and Bodhisattva Vajrapani), I also chant the following mantras:

  1. NAMO DANG LIE XIA XIENG MI LO CHUN FO and OM MAITRI MAHĀ MAITRI MAITREYA SOHA (Mantra of the Future Buddha, Bodhisattva Maitreya) – Chanting the mantra of the Future Buddha, Maitreya Bodhisattva, who is also known as the Happy Buddha would shower with blessings of health and wealth. To understand him better you can read my post about him entitled: THE HAPPY FAT BUDDHA: A REPRESENTATION OF MAITREYA BUDDHA’S BLESSINGS.
  2. OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA (Mantra of the Swift Liberator, Goddess Tara) – Chanting the mantra of Goddess Tara is really good specially when you encounter a lot of problems, because she is considered as the Swift Liberator because she liberates us from sufferings. To understand more about Goddess Tara please read the following articles: GODDESS TARA: THE MOTHER OF SWIFT LIBERATION and PAYING HOMAGE TO GODDESS TARA.Goddess Tara
  3. OM DZAMBHALA DZALIN DRAYE SOHA (Mantra of the Buddhist Wealth Deity, Yellow Dzambhala) – Chanting the mantra of Yellow Dzambhala will shower us with enormous wealth blessings. To understand Yellow Dzambhala, you can check out the article I have written about him entitled, INCREASE YOUR WEALTH BY PAYING HOMAGE TO YELLOW DZAMBHALA!

Chant – A – Mantra (3c): Daily Mantras to Chant – Mantras for Protection, Business or Career, and Wealth!

Published Hulyo 13, 2016 by jptan2012

In the preceding posts of the Chant – A – Mantra series where I talked about the Daily Mantras to Chant, which is basically the everyday mantras that I chant, I talked about the 3 Main Buddhas of Chinese Buddhism and the 4 Main Bodhisattvas of Chinese Buddhism. The first seven Buddhas and Bodhisattvas whose mantra I wrote about are what you call universal mantras, although I did still wrote about what they are really good for.

On this third part of the Daily Mantras to Chant of the Chant – A – Mantra series I would like to talk about the two other mantras that I chant daily specifically for protection, for business or career and wealth. Both Bodhisattvas are highly revered, one in Chinese Buddhism and the other one in Tibetan Buddhism. But when I mentioned them to my friends and other readers whom I have met in person, the most question they ask is whether they are one and the same.

The answer to that question is no. Bodhisattva Sangharama or Kuan Kong is a very powerful Bodhisattva, although strictly speaking, and I’m uncomfortable writing about this, technically speaking Bodhisattva Sangharama is “lower in rank” compared to Bodhisattva Vajrapani. Why do I say this?kuan-kong-3

Although what we normally hear is simply the word Bodhisattva, strictly speaking there are two types of Bodhisattva, and they are Bodhisattva and Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Bodhisattva Mahasattva is considered higher in rank as oppose to an ordinary Bodhisattva. Vajrapani Bodhisattva is a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Now I would like to make it clear that this difference in ranking is very little, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, I believe don’t look at it that way.

Other Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas are Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (Kuan Yin), Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, and Bodhisattva Manjushri among others.

Chanting the mantras of Bodhisattva Sangharama (also known as Qie Lan Pu Sa, Kuan Kong, Guan Gong, Kuan Yu, Guan Yu) and Bodhisattva Vajrapani will provide protection, but more than that it will also shower us with blessing of wealth and good business or good career. This blog is actually full of stories of people who got a lot of blessing from Bodhisattva Vajrapani, thru the Vajrapani Ruel.Vajrapani Bodhisattva

The mantra of Bodhisattva Sangharama is NAMO QIE LAN SHENG CHONG PU SA.

The mantra of Vajrapani Bodhisattva is OM VAJRAPANI HUM.

Chant – A – Mantra (3b): Daily Mantras to Chant – The 4 Main Bodhisattvas of Chinese Buddhism!

Published Hulyo 12, 2016 by jptan2012

In the preceding post, I briefly talked about the importance of chanting mantras daily. Sometimes, chanting mantras takes getting used to and the more we do it, the more we get used to it, the more it is easier for us to learn new mantras. But more than that, chanting mantras should be considered like taking vitamins, we have to take it everyday for us to build resistance, and in this case resistance to negative chi. Furthermore, aside from building resistance to negative chi or negative energies, chanting mantras daily makes us more attuned to the cosmic energy of the Buddhas or Bodhisattvas whose mantra we are chanting, not to mention it makes more attuned to the cosmic energy in general.

While we won’t be able to recite the entire mantras daily, because some of them are long and there are really a lot of mantras available for us. Chanting daily mantras of selected Buddhas or Bodhisattvas will also make us, as mentioned earlier, more attuned with the cosmic energy, to the divine cosmic energy of the world of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, in such a manner that when we have to chant a specific mantra for a specific purpose, because we already have a ‘relationship’ with the divine cosmic energy, it is easier for us to be attuned to the energy of the new mantra we are chanting, even this is for only a specific purpose.

Yesterday, I shared with you the initial list of the mantras I chant daily. Namely of the 3 main Buddhas of our time and they are Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha (Sakyamuni Buddha) and the only celestial Buddha among the three, Medicine Buddha.

Note: Medicine Buddha is the simplified name. Medicine Buddha’s formal name is Bhaisajya – guru – vaidūrya – prabhā – raja or King of Medicine Master and Lapis Lazuli Light. His Tibetan common name is Bhaisajyaguru.

Today, allow me to share with you the other mantras that I chant everyday. They are 4 Main Buddha of Chinese Buddhism, especially for Pure Land Buddhism and Zen Buddhism.

Note: Zen Buddhism although has Japanese name actually started in China. It’s the English-speaking world that ‘popularized’ Zen Buddhism, but in reality it is called Chan Buddhism.

THE 4 MAIN BODHISATTVAS WHOSE MANTRAS I CHANT EVERYDAY ARE THE FOLLOWING:kuan Yin3 white

  1. NAMO DA PEI KWAN SHI YIN PU SA & OM MANI PADME HUM (Mantra of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Kuan Yin) – Kuan Yin (also known as Avalokitesvara, Kannon, and also spelled as Guan Yin, Kwan Yin, Gwan Yin) is more popularly known as the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Sometime people also refer to her as the Buddha of Compassion (although she is not a Buddha) or Goddess of Mercy (although she is also not a Goddess). I have written about Kuan Yin Bodhisattva many times, so I will put the link to those articles below. But it should be noted that perhaps Kuan Yin Bodhisattva is perhaps the most famous and most revered Bodhisattva in all lineage and school of Buddhism. She has become so famous that even the Taoist has adopted her as one of their Goddess. I personally make sure that I always chant her mantra. You can read more about Kuan Yin Bodhisattva by clicking on the links below:

  • NAMO DA YUAN DI ZHANG WANG PU SA and OM AH KSTIGARBHA THALENG HUM and OM PRA MANI DANI SOHA (Mantra of the Bodhisattva of Great Vow, Ksitigarbha) – Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is known to have committed to the Buddha that he will not enter Buddhahood unless he has freed all sentient beings from hell or from being a hungry ghost. This is his great vow. Chanting his mantra will help ensure that we are freed from suffering and help ensure a good rebirth. To under stand Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva better please read: Ksitigarbha Buddha is a Bodhisattva Who Vowed to Help All Those Who Suffer in Hell and In this World.

    Samantabhadra

    Bodhisattva Samantabhadra

  1. NAMO DA XING PU XIAN PU SA and OM AH HUM AH A KAR SA LE OD A YANG OM DU (Mantra of the Bodhisattva of Great Conduct, Samantabhadra) – Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is a Bodhisattva known for her great conduct. She is also known as the Bodhisattva of Truth, because it is her sincerest desire the real truth be exposed does she has the famous TEN GREAT VOWS OF BODHISATTVA SAMANTABHADRA, where in each item of those vows has something to do with the permanent truth of Buddhism.

    manjushri_buddhist_god_of_wisdom_eq03

Manjushri is a disciple of Sakyamuni Buddha. He is also a great Bodhisattva.

  1. NAMO DA ZHI WUN SHU SHI LI PU SA and OM A RA PA CHA NA DHI (Mantra of the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, Manjushri) – Manjushri Bodhisattva (also spelled as Manjushree) is a Bodhisattva known for his commitment to make all sentient beings attained the perfect wisdom or full enlightenment. He is usually depicted holding a sword and a sutra book. The sword represents the slashing of false knowledge, and the sutra book represents that we are only able to attained perfect wisdom with the help of the sutra or words of the Historical Buddha, Shakyamuni. Chanting the mantra of Bodhisattva Manjushri will help us attain wisdom and guide us in making our daily decisions.

So you see, aside from the mantras of the 3 main Buddhas of our time, I also chant the mantras of the 4 main Bodhisattvas of Chinese Buddhism. But that’s not all, in my succeeding posts, I will share with you the other mantras I chant everyday.

Chant – A – Mantra (3a): Daily Mantras to Chant!

Published Hulyo 11, 2016 by jptan2012

One of the most common questions that people ask me is what mantra to chant for specific things. However, I would like to state that if you chant mantras only in time of need, then you are not fully utilizing the power of mantras. I agree that there are mantras or combination mantras that one can chant in specific time of need. But mantras should be treated like vitamins. You have to ‘take’ it everyday so you develop resistance to negative energies or negative chi. Taking it at the time of need might not be very swift.

So the next question is what mantra to chant everyday. Today allow me to share with you the mantras that I chant everyday. Some of the mantras in the list were mantras that my Guru Lama told me to chant, the others are from various Buddhist monks or nuns, and the others are those that I felt I needed to chant everyday. You can come out with your own list, but these are find are very powerful when chanted everyday.

MANTRAS OF THE 3 MAIN BUDDHAS OF OUR TIME:

3-buddhas

The 3 Main Buddhas of Our Time. The one in the center is Shakyamuni Buddha, (left side) Amitabha Buddha, (right side) Medicine Buddha.

  1. NAMO AMITUOFO & OM AMI DEWA HRIH (Mantra of Buddha Amitabha) – Amitabha Buddha is one of the 3 main Buddhas of our time. Amitabha used to be human eons and eons ago. When Gautama Siddhartha or Shakyamuni Buddha (Sakyamuni Buddha) was about to reach enlightenment, it was Amitabha Buddha who sent the most powerful Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva Vajrapani, to protect Sakyamuni Buddha. His mantra is very good for protection and over – all auspiciousness. Normally, when a person is about to passed away, Pureland Buddhist and Zen Buddhist will chant his mantra so that the person will be reborn in the Pure Land, which is Amitabha’s dwelling place that can be akin to Heaven.
  2. NAMO PEN SHI SI CHIA MONI FO & OM MUNI MUNI MAHAY MUNI YE SOHA (Mantra of Buddha Shakyamuni) – Sakyamuni Buddha is the Historical Buddha because he is a Buddha who lived during our time. To draw parallelism, he is like Jesus Christ, who became a human being. Although Buddhism under Buddha Sakyamuni started about 500 – 2000 years before Christianity did. Chanting his mantra, will help you attain enlightenment faster and will also provide wisdom. Also it will help you understand the Dharma(s) faster.
  3. NAMO XIAO TSAI YEN SHOW YAW SHI LIO LI KUANG DRU LIE or TADYATHA OM BHEKANDZYE BHEKANDZYE MAHA BHEKANDZYE RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA (Mantra of Medicine Buddha) – Medicine Buddha is the only Buddha amongst the three that is a Celestial Buddha. Meaning he is the only Buddha that has never assumed a human form. As the name implies, chanting his mantra will help cure diseases and prevent illnesses or provide you with health luck. However, what most people don’t know is chanting his mantra will also provide protection from accidents and will also provide wealth luck or financial luck. You can also read all the other posts about Medicine Buddha to know the benefits of chanting of Medicine Buddha.

(If you can only chant three mantras a day, please make sure you chant their mantras.)

Here are the links of my Medicine Buddha posts. And you will find His mantras and sutras within these posts:

Simple Words Have the Power to Hinder Somebody Else’s Luck & Create Your Own Bad Luck!

Published Hulyo 9, 2016 by jptan2012

In the last past 15 years or so there is a resurgence in the belief in Feng Shui, this time, extending it to the Western world and also to non – Oriental Asians. Different professional Feng Shui consultants started giving out Feng Shui classes in languages other than in Chinese, most common is English.

Together with the resurgence of Feng Shui, the line between Feng Shui and Taoism and Buddhism begun to blur, because both religion also makes use of Feng Shui. Feng Shui experts and writers begun to write about Feng Shui and was not able to properly delineate the difference. This writer included.

But the real issue here is that anti – Feng Shui groups started to rise also. More concerning that some commercialize Feng Shui consultants started to rise and harbor anger against other Feng Shui consultants or experts or writers.

People also tended to forget that Feng Shui experts are also human, and are prone to make mistakes. My own personal life is a testament that Feng Shui writers like me can make mistakes, and I unintentionally made several mistakes to my readers, which I’m trying to correct.

But the worst thing is that because of these things, sometimes we tend to say things that are unwarranted or are simply not true. For example, Sean, whose experience about the Vajrapani Ruel I wrote about in the post called – A PERMANENT HIGH PAYING JOB IN SINGAPORE BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE VAJRAPANI RUEL : A PERSONAL TESTIMONY FROM A VERY VOCAL NON – BELIEVER!– According to Sean, he has read a lot of negative things about Feng Shui, not just about my blog, but other Feng Shui writers or consultant, in fact, the pastors in his religions claims that the practice of Feng Shui is the work of a devil and that invites evilness. This is quite surprising because in Buddhism we are taught to respect all religions, and that there is no such thing as an evil religion, well unless it espouses hate and divisiveness. But even then there is always a caveat that at the end it’s the intent not the act that really matters, and that only fate can judge us.

Again, the people who don’t believe in Feng Shui tend to say things against Feng Shui, or Taoism or Buddhism. Sometimes, they because they experience negative things against a Feng Shui consultant or expert they tend to bad mouth and create rumors about Feng Shui, Buddhism, and Taoism in general. Sometimes just because they didn’t get the thing that they want they tend to spread rumors and attacking something that they don’t have an actual experience of. The sad thing here is little do they know the extent of their words or acts. Sometimes, they prevent people from getting good luck just because of these words. Furthermore, what they really don’t know is the bad luck that they create because of their acts. They slander Buddhism and Taoism is like slandering the Buddhas or Bodhisattvas or Taoist Gods and Deities themselves. And the great bad karma that they get because of the their acts that prevented other people from getting their full luck is simply scary.

So next time, we should all remember that it’s okay to say what we believe in but it is best to stick with what we believe in. Do not slander other people’ s belief!

Forget What I Wrote About People Born Under the Year of the Ox Having the Worst Luck this 2016: A Lesson From the Simple Life of BM!

Published Hulyo 8, 2016 by jptan2012

At the start of the year, I wrote about my annual forecast, and regular readers of this blog would know that I said that people born in the year of the Ox having the most challenging year ahead of them, compared to all the signs.

But you know what? My reader and friend, BM, was born in the year of the Ox, and in fact her birth year is one of the most affected birth year amongst the entire Ox. But, I think, she is having a blast (my term)!

Why? Did I make a mistake? Was I wrong in my forecast? Well, if you are born in the year of the Ox, chances are you are already going through a challenging or a little more than challenging year. This is because people born in the year of the Ox are greatly affected by some ‘bad stars’ from the Flying Star formula. However, BM apparently is not affected. By the way, don’t be surprised if you are familiar with BM because I have written about her quite a number of times.

Again, why is BM having a blast?

Without going into so much details, BM is having a blast, given that her age group should be one of the most affected of the said bad year, especially in terms of financial luck, she is actually earning better than most people. Her commercial complex is under renovation because her tenant ‘upgraded’ their office and wants a bigger space, which is good for her because that means bigger rent. On top of that, she also has a garments business, and because one of her client is a high profile politician, she was constantly featured in the news recently, thus it translated to more clients.

So why then is she having a blast of good year if the forecast it will be bad for her? Granted that she has all the Feng Shui cures and Buddhist amulets that she needs like the Vajrapani Ruel, Five Element Pagoda pendant, Gold Kalachakra pendant, Illness Suppression Amulet, amongst other things the real answer lies not in these cures but rather it lies what’s inside her heart. BM is one of the nicest person I’ve ever encountered. She has a good heart. She is quite generous, and very kind and compassionate. I will not go into detail of what are the things she has done, you can just simply read the other posts that I have written about her. This post is not about her, but I just thought I would use her as an example to show people that sometimes what is within is a lot stronger than the bad stars or bad Feng Shui! That is the number lesson I learn from her. Who we are, what kind of a person we are much more important and powerful than bad Feng Shui.

Fifteen Powerful Vajrapani Days Starts Today!

Published Hulyo 7, 2016 by jptan2012

Yesterday, was the feast day of the Bodhisattva Vajrapani and this marks a wonderful next 15 days (starting today) because it is said that the Vajrapani Ruel or the mantra of Vajrapani Bodhisattva is even more powerful in the 15 days after his feast day.

vajrapani-6

Namo Vajrapani Bodhisattva

Bodhisattva Vajrapani is unique in the sense that the celebration of his feast day is highlighted after the actual day. Why? This is because Vajrapani Bodhisattva is said to be a secret guardian. In the introduction of Vajrapani Ruel, in the post called – THE WORLD’S MOST POWERFUL AMULET IN THE BUDDHIST PANTHEON CALLED VAJRAPANI RUEL – you will get to read that it is Bodhisattva Vajrapani who protected the then still not fully enlightened and still very human Gautama Siddhartha. At that time, Gautama Siddhartha is fast approaching enlightenment, then a demon attacked him so that he will not reach full enlightenment, it was then Bodhisattva Vajrapani was instructed by Amitabha Buddha to protect the then human Bodhisattva Gautama Siddhartha, who became the Historical Buddha, Shakyamuni. In a way, Shakyamuni Buddha (Sakyamuni Buddha) became a Buddha because of Vajrapani Bodhisattva.

All Bodhisattvas are powerful but it is only Bodhisattva Vajrapani who has been described as powerful. This is because he is mostly characterized by his power, as Kuan Yin (also know as Avalokitesvara, Kwan Yin, Guan Yin, Gwan Yin, Kannon) is characterized by her compassion, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva by his vow, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva by her conduct, and Manjushri Bodhisattva by his wisdom. How the Bodhisattvas are characterized says a lot about them, and no other Bodhisattvas got the characterization of power except Bodhisattva Vajrapani.

It is because Vajrapani Bodhisattva is a secret guardian that is traditionally a day after his feast day that his power is celebrated or tapped. This blog has a lot of Bodhisattva Vajrapani miraculous personal testimonies, mostly because of the Vajrapani Ruel. These stories shows how powerful Bodhisattva Vajrapani really is. But even if you don’t have the Vajrapani Ruel, you can still tap into his power by simply chanting Bodhisattva Vajrapani’s mantra – OM VAJRAPANI HUM – under deep meditative level.

Vajrapani Ruel

The Vajrapani Ruel looks simple, maybe even rustic, but this simple amulet is packed with a special talisman paper inside, with various ingredients, which includes Namtso Salt, soil, various herbs and plants, crystal, and a relic from a high lama. It’s important to put the ruel inside a amulet holder or something sturdy as to not ruin it. If the cloth had tear which exposes or spill the ingredients inside, the ruel becomes useless. The Vajrapani Ruel itself is only about 1 to 2 inches and it varies from one ruel to another.

Furthermore, if you have the Vajrapani Ruel, and couple it with chanting the mantra OM VAJRAPANI HUM, will make the next 15 days really miraculous days. And if you can go vegan for the next 15 days all the more better, because going vegan will have cleanse your body from all the yin foods or foods that have to die first for you to be able to eat. Doing this as a symbolic offering to the Bodhisattva Vajrapani will make you more open to his wonderful blessings.
