Amulet 101 (C): Don’t Create Bad Karma By Renegading To Your Commitment to An Amulet!

Published June 14, 2016 by jptan2012

Amulets are supposed to give us protection and good luck, but sometimes by committing to it and not following through without a very good valid reason may create more harm than good.

Allow me to share with you the story of Ate Sarah. Some of you might remember her in the post entitled – VAJRAPANI RUEL STORIES 28: FINANCIAL HELP, A NEW JOB – AN OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKER RECEIVED SOME MIRACLES! – She is the one who got a job and some financial help even without asking for help after she got the Vajrapani Ruel (1), which is said to be the World’s most powerful amulet in the Buddhist pantheon.

Vajrapani Ruel

The Vajrapani Ruel looks simple, maybe even rustic, but this simple amulet is packed with a special talisman paper inside, with various ingredients, which includes Namtso Salt, soil, various herbs and plants, crystal, and a relic from a high lama. It’s important to put the ruel inside a amulet holder or something sturdy as to not ruin it. If the cloth had tear which exposes or spill the ingredients inside, the ruel becomes useless. The Vajrapani Ruel itself is only about 1 to 2 inches and it varies from one ruel to another.

As shared in that particular post, Ate Sarah, got a job abroad without even actively looking for one, this is after she got the Vajrapani Ruel (2). While she was preparing to leave, she called me up and requested for the ILLNESS SUPPRESSION AMULET(1), as most of you know, in requesting for the ILLNESS SUPPRESSION AMULET(2), like the VAJRAPANI RUEL (3), you are not paying for the amulet, but rather you are making a ‘donation’, in this particular case, an image of a Buddha to a temple and some offerings. To understand this better please read my post called “THE EVOLUTION OF ACQUIRING AN AMULET”.

Ate Sarah she wants to get two of the ILLNESS SUPPRESSION AMULET(3) and because I already know her, when she suggested that I already call my Guru Lama to confirm the donation so they can make the image of the Buddha and the offering already, I agreed. This was after I repeatedly confirmed with her whether she is sure to get the said amulet.

We agreed to meet, but on the day that we were supposed to meet, we had some misunderstanding and we didn’t get to meet. After repeatedly calling her, she didn’t reply to me anymore. I knew then that she decided not to get the ILLNESS SUPPRESSION AMULET(4) anymore. I got a little worried because I know that there are some negative implications to this unless of course her reason is really valid. Please understand that this is not due to the fact that how some people perceived it to be a sale loss already, but rather, images were already done for her, and since some of these amulets are limited, she might have deprived somebody of the said amulet.

Note: I would like to stress that Ate Sarah was not malicious in not pursuing the Illness Suppression Amulet (6)which she reserved. She just sincerely thought she has to prioritized something else.

When I called my Guru Lama to inform him about the said matter, he expressed the same concern, this might have some negative effect on Ate Sarah. Why? Please allow me to be very clear on this. This is because one has committed and the temple has made the necessary donations like the Buddha image and other offerings in her name already. The only excuse to this is if she has a valid important reason to negate on what she promised.

Illness Suppression Amulet2

The Illness Suppression Amulet or Illness Protection Amulet is a special highly consecrated amulet made by my Guru Lama as a cure for the Illness Star a star that also causes accidents. It has the energies of the Medicine Buddha, Namgyalma Buddha, Amitayus Buddha and White Umbrella Goddess. Furthermore, the small black thing you see at the bottom of the glass amulet holder is a Dharma Pill, which is made from a second – class relic of a confirmed holy lama. It also has a small amount of ash from the last Medicine Buddha holy initiation conducted by my Guru Lama, and aside from individual special consecration, the whole amulet was further consecrated under the Tooth Relic of Shakyamuni Buddha.

I wasn’t able to talk to her again since that happened, and I thought she has left the country already. One day I was surprised to receive a message from her, and when I get to talk to her, she said that she was suppose to leave the country already, but she was off – loaded and barred from leaving the country. This happened to her twice, and to top it off, she started feeling sick, and then she thought off that what she has done, by negating her commitment without a valid reason and thereby putting the temple into an awkward position, might have caused her troubles. She asked me as to why the Vajrapani Ruel (4) didn’t worked for her this time. The answer is simple, that is because she is reaping the negative effects of an offense made against the Buddha or the Temple, and no amulet can cleanse its effects.

And so she called and we meet and she decided to get the ILLNESS SUPPRESSION AMULET(5). She texted me the day after and told me she was healed from her illness (her story was shared on this blog, you can click here to read it) and soon after she called me from Qatar to let me know that she has since left. Her leaving the country is in itself another story worth writing about in another post.

Similarly, allow me to share another story. This time this happened to a girl who has trouble with her family and her work. My Guru Lama shared this story with me. According to my Guru Lama TA called on her because she claims that she has trouble with her family and her work. Apparently, her mother and TA doesn’t get along really well, and she was threatened by her mother that she will disowned and driven out of their house, at the same time, she has trouble in her office. She has been working in the said office for 5 years, but she hasn’t gotten any salary increase or promotion. Somebody who worked there for 3 years has gotten both.

When she approached my Guru Lama she was undergoing some evaluation to check whether she can be a candidate for a promotion and a salary increase. But about the same time her family problem is getting worst. My Guru Lama felt that she can finally get promoted and have some salary increase. However, she will need some heavenly help. My Guru Lama suggested that she chant mantra. She insisted that she wants an amulet. My Guru Lama told her that she can just chant mantras, do it fervently and under deep meditation and everything should be fine. However, she insisted that she wants an amulet. Now, we all know that an amulet can be pricey, so my Guru Lama tried to dissuade her from availing of an amulet, however she insisted and persisted. My Guru Lama finally reluctantly agreed.

NOTE: To understand better why we have to ‘pay’ for amulets please read the post entitled – THE EVOLUTION OF ACQUIRING AN AMULET.

However, TA doesn’t have money to acquire it by making the necessary donations, and so she begged my Guru Lama to reserve it for her. She committed to get it in two weeks time. With the two weeks time, somebody want to acquire the said amulet, but because my Guru Lama has committed it to TA, he didn’t give it to the second person that wants it.

But in 2 weeks she didn’t get it, she just called and told my Guru Lama that she will not get it. She said she had a change of heart and will just stick to the mantras. My Guru Lama somehow knew that she has the money but decided to spend it elsewhere. My Guru Lama just silently said yes. He tried to pass it on again to the other person but the said person can’t be contacted.

A week after TA called, she went to the temple, asking my Guru Lama for help again. Apparently, she was driven out by her mother, and is barred from living with her again. On top of that, she was told she was up for a salary increase, but for some tragic twist of fate she was actually fired and is now jobless!

To understand this, you have to realize that she is not being punished, because there is no concept of punishment in Buddhism. But she is paying for her karma. And in TA’s case it is the negative karma of committing to an amulet thereby preventing others from having one and then she renegade to her commitment.

Does this mean that if you committed to get an amulet you can no longer change your mind?

To answer that, allow me to say that before you commit to an amulet make sure you want it. You can change your mind as long as it is a valid reason. At the end of the day, bad things may happen but these are not punishment, because there is no concept of punishment in Buddhism, but rather it is karma. You simply reap what you sow. And if you renegade on a commitment that caused somebody else from having it, then there is negative karma in it.
