In my preceding post I talked about the importance of having the Chinese New Year Sticky Rice Cake more popularly called as Nian Gao or Tikoy here in the Philippines. Today, allow me some simple ways to cook it.
One of the most common ways of cooking it is by dipping it in egg and frying it a little. It really just takes a few moments because the Nian Gao or Tikoy is already cooking in the first place.
Second way of cooking it is by wrapping it on a Lumpia wrapper then frying it. You might opt to put a little sugar. But I personally think putting a little more sugar makes it really sweet.
Third way of cooking it is by wrapping it on a Lumpia wrapper and adding a little slice of cheddar cheese. I like this a lot. This one tastes really good.
Fourth way of cooking it is by wrapping it on a Lumpia wrapper and adding a small slice of fruits like strawberry, jackfruit, and mango.
Fifth way of cooking it is by mixing it with some coconut milk, just like Ginataan bilo – bilo. For non – Filipinos who are reading this please Google Ginataan. This is one of the best way of eating a Nian Gao or Tikoy.
